....and I am retiring from WIS in the near future. I am down to 2 leagues, instead of my usual 12-15. Back in the day, when a 6-pack was less than $50, I was running 30-40 teams at any given time. I've just lost interest, and have very little time since I have started school. After 8 years, the end is in sight...

That's odd... I've been losing a bit of interest the last year or so as well. I probably won't leave, but I'm no where near as active as I once was.

I think the big issues for me are

  • the difficulty filling theme leagues these days, which I attribute mainly to the popularity of progressives (which I love) and HBD (Which doesn't interest me).
  • The need to micromanage to compete... I prefer the "Set them and run" model, but the micromanaging is just a more sucessful strategy, so if you don't use it, you have a hard time competing.
  • Unrealistic fatigue is still an issue... I want the penalties and injuries much sooner and more severe... If you play a player under 100%, I want you to regret it. Note: Yes, you can argue that players are not 100% during any particular game in the season.. However, this is a sim based on the stats that they produced while they were less than 100%... To not penalize more severely those who shave IP or PA to field teams at 90% effectiveness is ridiculous to me.
I'm still here... But it will take some changes to the fatigue structure to get me enthusiastic again.

I don't have a problem with the way fatigue works, although, frankly, I feel that if "fatigue" is going to be made a factor in the game, its effects should be more pronounced, and more predictable. I played Strat-o-Matic before coming here, and SOM has no fatigue, they use injuries to players to try to keep them around their RL usages. This system does work much better, and while I am certain we all can cite an example of a fatigued player over achieving, I think we would all agree this is the exception, rather than the norm. When I play Fatigued teams, I usually pad my stats pretty well.

Yes but there is a great big problem when a guy that had 67RL/PA put up these numbers. And I am guilty of this myself

99GP,405AB,133HITS,33 DOUBLES,O TRIPLES,13HR,89RBI,78RUNS,AVG.328,OBP.370,SLG506
GREAT NUMBER FOR THE #1MIL I SPENT

Wow. That's insane.

Appears to be the 1990 Bill Doran, and I would say this is the first example I've seen that I would consider to be a real problem. He obviously spent most of the season at 0 fatigue, and there's no way he should be able to put up those numbers.
