But Caruthers '86 and Hecker '86 now total $35,857,367, a hike of roughly $4 million. I don't see much prospect for anyone putting a strong team together with that tandem any longer at $80m.

Not to mention the fielding behind Bob won't be very good, since he's from 1886.

Yeah, hmmm... Bob's new salary is manageable... but his affects on fielding are not really well understood at this point. Do you still take him knowing he will create more errors for your team... but not knowing how many new errors?
