540,000 is pretty low?

Hey, at least GA, in 2018 (remember, this is 2018, not 1861), honors their military at youth sporting events. Quite tragic that you guys don't care enough to do so.

Yes. There are 19 million registered voters in CA. Any group serious about getting something passed gets 540k signatures.

Why would a little league honor the military? It’s completely unrelated.

It’s like being offended that movie theaters and bowling alleys don’t honor the military.

Not unrelated at all. Those kids have the right to play because of the freedoms that our military provide. You are a very twisted person. I feel bad for you. Very few events around don't take time to honor those who have fought for our country.

This is such a weird argument. No one is saying that you shouldn’t or can’t honor the military, just that it doesn’t happen at minor events like little league games and movie theater showings.

And it’s off topic. Rosa Parks wasn’t protesting buses. MLK wasn’t protesting bridges. Kneeling NFL players aren’t protesting the military. They are (were) protesting injustice.

The best part of our Little League Memorial Day Parade in Bayport, N.Y. every year was waiting for someone in the Fife and Drum marchers to faint and pass out. Someone always skipped breakfast and wilted in those funny heavy uniforms

I'm sure I will once again regret giving-in to the temptation of reading a tang post, (and it may be the 1 time today, so forgive future non-replies) but here goes:

NFL (or NBA or whatever) players have millions of dollars. They can donate some of that to their causes, they can attach their name and/or image to those causes for more attention, they can pretty much book an appearance on talk shows and sport's shows at will.

I'm not getting back into the whole intent discussion. Rapists will tell you they don't mean to disrespect the women they rape, child-beaters will tell you they don't mean to disrespect their kids, adulterers will tell you they don't mean to disrespect their spouse - does that make those things ok? It's just like the people who immigrate illegally - it may be well meaning and "necessary" to them, but illegal is illegal, just like disrespectful is disrespectful.
Is what the Rams did a couple of years ago (Stand up don't shoot) disrespectful?

really? are you comparing rape and child beating to kneeling for the anthem? That's pretty stupid.
I am saying its stupid for millionaires to complain about anything.
And you and Strikeout moan about a potential tax increase for millionaires? Hypocrite much?

IMO, the national anthem shouldn't be played before games unless a team is representing their country and we shouldn't have 'honor' the military before little league games. Seems pointless. All good with honoring them during major league games if a team wants to.

I love the troops and I will support any legislation that benefits them, and I will also respect any veteran I see around. That's how you 'honor' the military.

Since I'm sure dino will red line it in the other thread, does any else find it "funny" that he says he wants a thread with no name-calling, yet calls the leader of this Country something just about every other post? That's far more hypocrisy than any of the other things that were pointed-out in here today.

Don't lump my name into this. You obviously don't understand personal finance well enough to talk about tax hikes on the rich, so you may want to avoid that subject. Heck, you didn't even realize that in some states, they pay as much as 60% in taxes already.

Lol. I've been thinking the same thing for a while.

That is the most retarded thing I've ever read on these pages and that is saying a whole lot. Pull your head out of your ***, you ******* idiot.

It's amazing how a league with a good commissioner, the NBA, doesn't have these issues of disrespect that Goodell has had. What a joke that man is. He has no backbone. Silver cut it off from the start and the players respect him, so they have listened.
It has more to do with the owners in the NBA than the commissioner. The players know their owners have their backs....see the Milwaukee Bucks just this week and the horrible police detainment of Sterling Brown. The team put out a press release railing against what happened. The NFL players don't feel the NFL owners have their back...and they're right.
