I hope you're not implying that I'm against cheap labor. I have less of a problem with illegals than most because they're doing the crap jobs that Americans won't. And for a much cheaper cost that you'd get IF Americans would do them. Keeps the prices down of some products that I might buy.

It's ridiculous how much this country in-sources employment via work visas when we have talented people in this country that can do the jobs. To your point however... I think the market should determine the cost of labor... if its a **** job that no one else will do then replace it with machinery or pay more until someone will do the job. People should be entering this country legally and not rewarded with work (even **** work) if they're illegally in this country. Why have laws if we aren't going to uphold them?

Sounds to me that you're a man who'd be in favor of raising the minimum wage thus making your Big Mac combo an $11 purchase. I don't think that to be true.

Hard work built this country. Entitlement will kill it.

not at all. I think the minimum wage argument is a political ruse to rile people up because its a 'feel good' issue. minimum wage workers make up 3.9% of all US hourly workers. Its such a small portion and many of those jobs have unreported tips. I loathe the federal government getting involved in pretty much everything except upholding the law (not making it), defending this country, and the central bank. The government should not be telling businesses what to do, including a minimum wage. I laugh at those that want minimum wage increases because they'll inevitably put that 3.9% of the population out of work when the cost of machinery becomes less expensive than the cost a human labor.

btw - if more people were willing to work hard they wouldn't be in minimum wage jobs. unfortunately there is a shortage of hard workers.

"The government should not be telling businesses what to do, including a minimum wage."

"or pay more until someone will do the job"

So, while you think the government should stay out of business, businesses should do what you say?

pay more until someone will do the job is simple economics. supply and demand. a shortage of people willing to do a job means the price will go up until that job is fulfilled - assuming that job is necessary. keeping illegals out of the country is the governments job, they just happen to suck at it... much like the federal government sucks at pretty much everything.

Isn't it a business' "job" to make money? The business found someone who would do the job at the rate they want to pay. They are assuming a risk, it is illegal to hire illegals, to maximize profits. Just screaming "PAY MORE UNTIL SOMEONE WILL DO THE JOB" is not in the best interest of the business.

I'll ask again, while you think the government should stay out of business, businesses should do what you say? You really can't have it both ways.

Breaking the law is unacceptable, it's unethical. the ends never justify the means BL... err MikeT. If you don't like the law, change it legally. The federal government needs to do a better job of enforcing the law, a much better job.

But you agree that the job of a business is to make money, right? And, along that way of making money, a business will take risks, right? And, as a Trump supporter, do you really want to get into an "unethical business practice" discussion?

I expect businesses and people to follow the law. PERIOD. if you don't like the law then change it legally. And to answer your question - It is the job of a business to make money, LEGALLY.

Care to google this: has trump used illegal workers

I expect Presidential candidates to follow the law. PERIOD.

Who are you pledging your undying support to now that you've discovered Trump has broken the law in his business transactions?

I'm sure I could google 'is crack good for pregnant women' and find stuff that says it is. If there is proof trump knowingly hired illegals then he should have been prosecuted. looks like it has been tried and trump prevailed.
