I heard a story on some sports show (I can't remember which) how the Waner bros got their nicknames. Don't know how true it is or if I actually believe it, but from what this show said, Waner got his name from when he played in Boston, back when no one had any names on their jersey backs.

The Boston fans called Paul Waner "Big Poison" because he was the larger of the two brothers, while the other brother was called "Little Poisom" because he was the smaller of the two. Of course, in a Boston accent, "Poison" would be the nomenclature for "Person", and the nickmanes stuck.

Anyone else see this show or heard this story before?
