On the other hand... THANK GOD Trump didn't publicize he was going to hit the Syrian airstrip before he did because they would have moved the 20 fighter jets and found a way to protect their fuel and radar stations.

A smart person would leak out some information to certain people. If the leak gets out, he'll know where the problem was.

It'll be interesting to see if the communications flow changes.

"The Trump administration warned Russia of the attack in advance, so as to minimize the risk of harming Russian personnel at the base. The Russians in turn, surely warned their Syrian allies, so they could remove any particularly valuable equipment and personnel before the Tomahawk missiles hit."

Mine is simply a warning shot to Syria (and Russia and North Korea) that the US WILL act when necessary. The last President had no balls. This one has YUUUUGE cajones.

B) I'm not against the air strike. I'm against the fact that we have a buffoon making the decisions. Handling a situation like this requires complex strategic thought and great diplomacy. Trump lacks the ability to do either.

Its that simple. Has Assad launched more chemical weapons since Trump struck back? Think of the US Policy for Syria like a referee... You use chemical weapons and we will step in... otherwise, play ball.

The missile strike was symbolic. The airfield was only down for a few hours. If I'm Assad, I'm not concerned with a strike like this. So what happens now? If Assad uses chemical weapons again, do we launch an aircraft bombing? Those are much more effective but also much riskier. Do we start a ground war over this?

YES and NO.
