So you admit that at this point, the deal, as it stands, amounts to jack ****?
So far we've got back our last prisoners from North Korea and they comitted to immediately sending back all US remains from lost soldiers. This is in exchange for a photo opportunity, nothing more. They've not tested a missile in 7 months. That amounts to something.

Also to have the praise from Japan, South Korea, and China going to Trump is a big deal.... These are countries that have harsh feelings towards NK. This is great from an optics standpoint for Trump politically.... gives him more much needed political credibility on the world stage.... Setting the table for the next 6.5 years.

Well, it isn’t “nothing more.”

We agreed to end military exercises in South Korea.

That’s something.

Also, the meeting itself lends legitimacy to North Korea. Giving that legitimacy doesn’t cost us anything, but it can only be given once. And we did so in exchange for virtually nothing.
We agreed to end costly 'war games'... Do you like spending taxpayer money flying bombers 6.5 hours from Guam to NK just to practice? I thought you were against wasteful military spending.

I know it's a left talking point, but please describe what you mean by legitimacy to North Korea? Be specific. Do you think other countries will now say gee whiz look at that photo we should lift all our sanctions??
Neither of those are a huge deal, I just wouldn't pretend that this meeting was anything other than PR.

Trump can say he made a deal. Kim gets to use the picture of him shaking hands with the President of the United States as propaganda. But, in the end, nothing really changes.
This summit is just foreplay. A first step. Before Trump's term is up, yes or no.... Will Trump get NK to denuclearize?
Obviously the answer is no.
Got it.... You'll be proven wrong by Trump AGAIN
No one has defined denuclearization.

See the problem? No matter what, I can say he didn’t and you can say he did and the truth doesn’t matter.

That’s why terms have to be defined prior to negotiations.

It's the complete, verifiable, irreversible dismantlement of Pyongyang's nuclear program.

"Irreversible," in the practical sense, aims to ensure the current facilities cannot be reactivated after they've been dismantled.

I guarantee you they discussed this or as Trump said he wouldn't have wasted his time or Kim's time going to Singapore. This is what will happen for North Korea. For the US we will have to bring down our troop levels in South Korea and remove North Korean sanctions, both in a timely manner.

You guarantee it? You have no idea.

Complete? Is North Korea allowed to enrich uranium to use for nuclear power? Will UN inspectors be allowed in? If so, do the inspectors have to give notice? Are they limited to certain areas or do they have freedom to look anywhere?
All weapons grade uranium will be gone and inspectors will be allowed in, at any time, anywhere they want.

Otherwise, no deal and Trump will apply more sanctions, Kim can stay a hermit in NK and he'll lose his chance of glory on the world stage. You'll see.

You keep forgetting Trump is a winner! He just keeps winning!!!

If you think that happens by the end of 2020, you’re nuts.
6/13/2018 11:21 AM
Moy, you didn't answer me. What motivation would Kim Jong Un have to denuclearize? What could we offer him?

Kim just made a deal with the DEVIL. And a devil who can't be trusted to keep his word. THAT's his legacy!
one's a serial murderer and one's not

O the dumbness of your words
Are you positive you KNOW which is which? Based on what?
well, Kim is king. what a king does when he accedes, if he's a true khan, an asian king, a king with a ten thousand year old handbook is
  1. murder his brothers
  2. murder his uncles and his father's honchos
  3. scare the bejesus out of everyone else
  4. murder some cousins and generals occasionally to underline for emphasis
  5. keep up the terror

trump can't, but trump wishes he could

trump's #1 thing is Loyalty Kiss My Ring. oh boy does he love the red carpet. i think the two kings are envious and supportive of each other

i think trump loves to give the stink eye and the finger to the lowly who derive their power from people

trump and kim are buds
I'm actually in complete agreement with this. My original (and kinda lame) point was that I (personally) have not seen any evidence to 100% conclude Kim guilty of anything. Nor Trump, for that matter, when it comes to direct criminal activity...........but one would not be nuts to tend to give credence to historical precedent and the media's speculations on this one.

Plus, no one that I've heard of has publicly accused Trump of Murder (yet)........ so I was a little, well, over-amping my comparison.......... probably trying to stir the pot a bit...............

None-the-less BC, your post is spot-on. Trump does like (envies) the despots who get to rule without the hindrance of laws protecting the opposition........ and of course saying Trump likes the spotlight and red carpet attention is like concluding that (indeed) bears do **** in the woods..........

True Dat........but Kim got to sightsee Singapore, elevate himself to "leader" status, and all without having to leave his own shitter.

Art of the Deal Indeed!
What's in it for rocketman? Yeah, if he denuclearizes the peninsula he has an opportunity to become a transformative leader for North Korea. A chance to change the culture, open up the borders for free trade with economic giants like the USA, actually grow the economy and start feeding their malnourished citizens. Kim doesn't have to be his dad.

Think of the legacy for Kim Jung Un.
For Tang.

Lol - apparently I'm not the only one...

The US hopes to see "major disarmament" by North Korea by the end of 2020, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says.

His comments come a day after an unprecedented meeting between President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in Singapore.

In a statement North Korea agreed to work towards "complete denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula".

But the document has been criticised for lacking details on when or how Pyongyang would give up its weapons.

Speaking in South Korea, where he discussed the outcome of the summit, Secretary Pompeo said there was still "a great deal of work to do" with North Korea.

But he added: "Major disarmament... We're hopeful that we can achieve that in the two and half years."

He said he was confident Pyongyang understood the need for verification that it was dismantling its nuclear programme.

Sure, because everybody expected Pompeo to come out with a statement saying:

This is a difficult situation that, over the last six decades, the greatest foreign policy minds in the world haven’t been able to resolve. The odds of Donald ******* Trump getting it done in 24 months are incredibly long.

What makes you think that Kim is having a sudden personality change? Furthermore, why should he trust us? He saw what we did in Iraq.

OMG! DAY TWO!

Trump holds out an olive branch and the lefties GO NUTS!

TAKE A BREAK!

Nobody knows nothing. It's too damn early. Save a little for tomorrow.

That's when the I.G. report comes out.

Good night.

It’s gotta be a bit right?

It’s straight out of emperor’s new clothes. Trump’s people are talking about this amazing deal and it’s nothing. Trump’s just frolicking around naked convinced that his clothes are amazing and no one will tell him otherwise.

Trump is a master negotiator.

and seeing what we did in Iraq is EXACTLY why he should do something now. Look what happened there all because Hussain wouldn't let nuke inspectors in.
