One of several reasons that I consider Bush 1 as a better then average President was the way that he quickly was able to forge a multi country alliance before the Gulf War. He and his Secretary of State had an abundance of networks and relationships with leaders and governments across the globe.

What Biden has done is nothing short of spectacular
and for the first time in a long time there is the democracy team vs totalitarianism ( without regard to capitalism or socialism ) among the countries and peoples of the world.

There was some type of vast unity similar to this after 9-11 but this is world nationalism rising up to severely punish what it rightly sees as evil.

We have not had this since World War 2.
Even during the Cold War the world was fractured.
Not so today.
This a great step forward and maybe even some type of maturation on a global basis.
It is really something to cheer on.

If only this kind of enthusiasm could be ratcheted up to fight the climate change crisis.

OK. Let's see. Ike WAS a pretty doggone good POTUS. JFK was a short Presidency BUT He WAS a genuine leader. Hard to say what WOULD have happened if NOT for............

Reagan gave us trickle down economics and the surge of homeless on our streets and PLENTY of other poor decisions in his 8 years BUT he did REKINDLE American pride and help rebuild our confidence in our Nation itself. Mixed bag but a generally decent performance.

Jimmy Carter was too honest (and too politically inexperienced) for the job. He TRIED mightily but was overwhelmed by events and timid in his responses.

Bush Sr. gave us the (quite possibly) WORST Supreme Court justice in History and blew the National budget BIGTIME!!
Under his single term our National debt EXPLODED at a rate far beyond any rationale measure.
With the exception of Trump (a KNOWN crook/conman with NO discernible political ideology) who will go down as our worst POTUS EVER (and likely end up our 1st imprisoned POTUS!) Bush, Sr. was clearly the worst POTUS of my lifetime (Nixon excepted!!).

And I'm about the same age as you LNF.
BUT, I lived thru and watched those politicians serve our Nation. Experienced the impact of their decisions.

George HW Bush was not fiscally irresponsible. He inherited an 8 year trickle down economy which he opposed and called voodoo economics.
He raised taxes as a result.
The booming explosion of debt as a share of gdp happened from 1980 to 1988 when military spending increased with less revenue.
It continued around the same rate from 1988 to 1992.
Presidencies almost always are a mixed bag. LBJ could have been in the top 4 presidents if not for foreign policy.
Raegan the same if not for domestic policy.
Clarence Thomas turned out to be far more conservative then expected.
He was no Bork coming in.
Except for abortion Im sure a lot of conservatives are not happy with the 2005 pick of John Roberts who has a mainstream side and has often been a swing vote.

A second casualty among the capitol rioters has died.
Matt Perna. He had pled guilty and committed suicide just before sentencing.
His family said he had a broken heart because of delay and blamed the the government and the prosecutors.
They said he was a peaceful protestor who was ushered in by police.
He was a loyal Q’anon follower who was filmed saying that his purpose there was to stop Pence who he called a traitor. He was also seen tapping on a window inside the capitol with a metal pole.
He copped a plea.

Those are the kind of people in Congress that you only get from Republican side.
They are literally 2 pieces of scum. Two ugly hate mongoring baboons they are. And they are examples of devolution - Simians evolving from human beings. Marjorie Greene and Lauren Bobbitt from Colorado… They are really bad people
except to other really bad people.

At the very least Bobbitt should be censored and Greene should be thrown out of Congress for the litany of really sick things she has said and done.
A motion to remove her should be made and there should be a hearing and a vote or whatever the process is.

I should also say because it is true that Nancy Pelosi was making me scratch my head several times and is knuckle rubbing a thing that I don’t know about ?
It was a night of two women walking on their knuckles while hooting and hollering and one rubbing her knuckles in silent pantomime.

Democrats get the goods on Republican leaders while Republicans have to try to dig up dirt on Democratic leaders’ kids even though if they have to conspire to manufacture it at whatever the cost.
