The team finished with 205+ plays and an 84-78 record at a $120M cap. Looking at the efforts of other teams here, this team was clearly lower in the OF because the pitching staff threw a lot of groundballs. I can't explain why Speaker and Erstad didn't perform better when playing their other position. Luck does definitely play a role.
The biggest learning was the impact of bad pitching on this effort. The similar team that is currently playing in the $100M cap Arms Race league has 139 + plays in 118 games, on pace for 191. The lineup in that league has Dawson/Carey/Terry replacing Speaker/Cameron/Erstad. But, the pitching is so strong that offense is way down by design which means fewer balls eligible for + plays.
