Single Season Puzzle Tournament - Round 4 Details Topic

Before we get into round 4, a determination needs to be made on which 24 teams advance. Exactly 6 teams from each half of each league will advance to round 4 (the four playoff teams and the teams with the next two best records). Also, per rules, no person can have more than 2 teams advance.

If anybody has more than 2 teams that are *qualified* to advance, the lowest ranking team(s) are dropped and the half-league (the dropped teams are from) will get a the team with the next best record to advance. In no instance will a half-league get more than 6 teams to advance to round 4.

The 24 teams will be ranked by (1) W-L record over 162 games (2) Expected Winning% (3) Home field win%. Any teams that get "moved up" from non-qualifying to qualifying status due to somebody having to drop teams, those teams will rank behind the qualifying teams, regardless of their W-L record.

Once the 24 teams are determined, a draft order will be calculated. The order will be based on the Round 3 rankings defined above. The draft can begin as soon as round 3 regular season ends and the 24 advancing teams are ranked. When you pick you first season, you will also select which division you want to play in.

Since there is just one league in round 4, and 2 teams per person is the max, no person will be allowed to have more than a team in each half league (i.e., one team in NL, one team in AL).

The player pool for this round are the six newest expansion franchises.
Toronto Blue Jays
Seattle Mariners
Florida/Miami Marlins
Colorado Rockies
Tampa Bay (Devil) Rays
Arizona Diamonbacks

Within each league, there will be a 7-round draft, where you will draft 6 single-season teams. You must draft one single-season team from each of the six franchises. The seventh round is a single player draft (from any of the undrafted teams, you may pick a player from any franchise). You must roster exactly 4 players from each of your six drafted teams. The single player you select in round 7 is your 25th player. You still get one clone (can come from the drafted teams or the 25th player from round 7).

The draft is a normal serpentine draft
Round 1: 1-24 (pick a year) --> the draft order is based on the round 3 rankings
Round 2: 24-1 (pick a year)
Round 3: 1-24 (pick a year)

Round 5: 1-24 (pick a year)

(The single-season team's real-life winning% is irrelevant this round)

I am assuming since each league will be having their own 1-12,12-1, etc, each “team season” can be drafted twice, once for each league. And each “team season” can be drafted twice in the first round as long as each one is in a different league. Am I correct?

No, it's a typo from copy and paste of a previous league thread. Good catch. The draft is 1 thru 24. Will fix typo.

Damn Football, thanks bud. Totally not necessary but very much appreciated. If I'm lucky enough to have a team or two make it to Round Two in Jeff's new tournament, it'll help me purchase a couple more teams!
