Bonds 232 walks Topic

I got to thinking about building a OL team around those 232 walks/43 HR's. He is $16 million plus, so it will be tight on the budget.

Has anybody tried using this Bonds in an OL?

I was thinking batting him second, getting another walk monster hitting leadoff and 2 hitting machines like Ishiro with 200 + hits to drive them in.

The rest of the offense is $3 million dollar scrubs. It will be an offense totally carried by four hitters.

Maybe I have too much time on my hands and I should get back to work

won't work in my opinion.....Bonds would probably win MVP, but your team would win like 60 games

i'm using the 07 version at 4.3 mil. batting 2nd with an obp of .454.

the team has hovered at .500 all year, but not bond's fault. but with this bonds you'll need a 200+ pa guy on the bench to pick up the slack. its an idea i think i'll try again after this team is over. i would recommend a gavvy type player. ichiro will get 200 hits, but if you dont get a heavy hitter behind bonds, the sim will walk bonds 50% of the time.

The "All My Eggs in One Basket" teams don't seem to be that successful.

OTOH... prove us wrong.

I don't think this is gonna work. Suppose Bonds gets on base on every at bat, and u get 5 at bats per game. The guy behind bonds have a .35 avg, that means your bonds and cleanup combo only get 1.65 runs per game, with the rest of your lineup doing little. You are not gonna win with this kind of offensive production.

take a look at 96 sheffield...I think you get similar production out of him and save yousrelf around 10 million

It's really tough to build a competitive OL team when your spending 20% of your total payroll on one player (40% of your available offensive money if you go with a 50-50% offense/defensive split). I'd like to see how it works out though.

In my expierence, the only guy in SIM to splurge on is Ruth.

If you're looking for just OBP with a few homers, go with Sheff or Giles. They'll put up high OBPs - less high, but high - for significantly less money. Matter of fact, you could have both of them and still have money to spare on, say, a 1933 Ruth who will put up a solid OBP AND hit 40 homers.

No question.

I think to win you would have to bat him in a position where he could drive in runs. Batting 2nd limits this opportunity. Yes, I see the giant ob%, but don't forget the slugging percentage.

If we fill this current champs league quickly, I'll throw in a team with the '04 Bonds and the '20 Ruth together in the league...

sford has a team in the CL right now... we just need it to fill.

You should look for an ALBATROSS league, truemen. Most of them are something like:

80 million cap
2 players ( 1 hitter and 1 pitcher) over 10 million
Everyone else under 4 million

or something like that.
