Why 08 Addie Joss? Topic

Every time I have picked him in a 200-255 mil league he has been my worst starter with 7-9 era. He sucks. But yet he is on almost every team in high cap leagues. I thought I would give him another try since the change was made, but he was just as bad.

Same with A-Rod. His numbers look so good, but he hits .230 with 10 hrs.

???????????

I looked at your two teams with the most games played and neither of them are 255mil. How many leagues have you played? What are the names of the starting pitchers with better ERAs than Joss on your teams? And since when does A-Rod look good at a 255mil cap? I don't think hes ever even showed up in a draft search for me.

I've tried a few high cap leagues and I've found that's Addie Joss who does the best.

Walter Johnson, Addie Joss, Ed Walsh, Pete Alexander, and some other guy is usually my 5 man rotation with all of them pitching relief on off days.

Then again, those high caps were in 2006 or so.

why limit him to high caps? With the pricing change, he's just over $12 million now for 350 IPs. Definitely priced for an OL.

I wonder what you expect in a 255mil League? The offense is off the charts in leagues like that. My expectation of a SP in a 255mil league is one that is hearty enough to through 5 or 6 innings and keep the game in hand, which often means 5 or 6 runs. 6 runs in 6 innings is an ERA of 9.00. Frankly, that is pretty good in a 255mil league. I think you need to re-calibrate your expectations.

In lower cap leagues I like Joss alot. He is often the Cy Young. Pete Alexander is better though.

255 leagues are a joke. Flip a coin. That's who wins.

Kind of implies that folks who play in 255 leagues probably have a 50% winning percentage, does it not?

I really hate how cheap some of the deadball pitchers are now... It pushes too much talent into OLs.

I win more games in a season at the $255mil cap than any other cap.

I'm confident I could hang in a 255M league with a 155M roster.
