Quick question - does no clones mean you can't use different years of the same player, or you can't have multiple of the same year/player combo? For example, can I use a 1923 and 1924 Babe Ruth, or am I limited to just one Babe Ruth?
no you can't use 23 and 24 Ruth, no clones means you can't have the same player twice, even if the years are different. the software won't let you use the same player/season twice on one team anyway.

I'd like to caution owners with using 2020 players for this theme... There seems to be a calculation problem in the draft center on their AVG when it's aggregating it with the rest of your team. I had two scrubs who combined for 3 H/162 in 116 AB/162 from 2020 (Hamilton and Martinez - .026 combined AVG) and when I replaced them with two non-2020 players who combined to go 7 H/162 for 117 AB/162 (.061) my team aggregate DECREASED by 4 points.

I also saw this same effect with two separate full time players. I had Javy Baez at SS who is credited with 122 H/162 in 599 AB/162 (.203) and replaced him with a non-2020 player who had 127 H/162 in 567 AB/162 (.224) and again my aggregate AVG DECREASED by 4 points. I then decided to test on one more 2020 player and replaced a non-2020 player who was 148 H/162 for 558 AB/162 (.265) with 2020 Trent Grisham who is listed at 146 H/162 for 541 AB/162 (.251) and my team aggregate AVG INCREASED.

I went to a different team that I had not begun drafting in and when I only drafted 2020 players their stats were aggregating correctly. However, once I started mixing 2020 players with non-2020 players, they were no longer aggregating correctly. It appears the 2020 players when on a mixed-season roster are being credited with a portion of their original RL H total AND their projected H/162. So Baez, instead of being credited with his 122 H/162 is then credited with 155 H/162 for the aggregate, likewise, Grisham, instead of being credited with 148 hits, when aggregated is also being credited with 155 H/162. (as I was typing this, it occurred to me I should probably test with someone like Soto, to see if it also credits him 155 H/162 - or the equivalent pace - maybe it's using a standard rate for the draft center calculation for 2020 - and it does - I drafted Soto and 2000 Manny Ramirez and 1967 Roberto Clemente) Clemente and Ramirez each INCREASED my team AVG 10 points over Soto. It appears all 2020 hitters are being credited with the equivalent of a 155 H/162 season when aggregating.

I have also submitted a ticket for this, but since it directly impacts the drafting for this theme, I thought owners should be aware that this may mess up your teams aggregate AVG/OAV balance and I'm not sure how it looks on the team roster pages once drafted, it may be correct there. I do have one 2020 player on a team I can look at for post-drafted, but since most are using the draft center to verify before entering, I thought y'all should be aware.

The team roster once entered into a league appears to aggregate correctly, and since that is what will be used for checking rosters, I don't think we need to eliminate 2020 players from the league, since it can be verified at a glance still. However, it is good to note that if you draft 2020 players, you'll want to aggregate on your own so you don't get sent back to redraft after entering your team. unless Ozo wants to just make the call to make it easier and limit the season pool to just 1885-2019.

But I tested the roster aggregation with the following team:

And as you can see, even with 2020 Seager, the aggregate from the sim matches up with my own aggregation directly above it.

Let's see what adlorenz says before I make a call

For final confirmation I entered the team I was drafting with Soto, and the league roster page shows a 9 point increase (in-line with Clemente/Ramirez in draft center). So for example, draft center shows .250 with Soto, .260 with Clemente or Ramirez. When I enter the team into the league, the team roster page shows the hitter totals with a .260. The draft center is crediting Soto’s hits as fewer when aggregating with non-2020 seasons, but the team roster page in-league is correct.

I think as long as teams are aware of it, anddouble check their rosters/stats before entering we should be fine. Would be a pain having to approve rosters if this wasn't discovered though!

We are gathering information and going to dive into it first thing tomorrow, based on our understanding this is a draft center issue only and we have faith we can track it down it just might take a little bit of time.

So if you are okay giving us a couple of days/ potentially up to a week or two to identify the issue and potentially roll out a hot fix then I'd appreciate it, but it the group needs to draft now I get it. You can email me ozo if you have more questions.

Yep that timeline is fine, thanks for the transparency and willingness to jump on this!

Clarification on the 90mil league. Is it exactly 100 years apart,, or at least 100 years apart in the given date range?

Exactly 100 years apart

For the 70M theme, is there really any need to get admin involved? The draft center calculates raw numbers and entered teams are calculated on projected-to-162 games. Yes, this can create slight discrepancies if you use partial seasons like 1981 or 2020. No big deal. I'd recommend everyone just double check that their averages match by entering their team in a open league, verify the match and then withdraw the team. Mismatches can usually be tweaked quickly by changing a reserve or mop up. And, yes, it's best to avoid 2020 or 1981, although not absolutely necessary. Let's put this in perspective.

It's not just a small rounding error with 2020 though, it can swing it significantly (10 points plus), this will cause some headaches for roster verification and for people entering teams they thought were good, that aren't. Essentially, the awareness is what I called out above, but if it's something admin can fix in the draft center so the short-season weighting doesn't impact so heavy on roster verification, then why not?
3/25/2021 10:11 AM
OK, I see your point. However, if admin can't change the draft center, there's no need to scrap the theme. It's really quite an interesting theme.

Completely agree, I think it's one of the best themes we've seen

I've done the variable cap team. I thought that one was fairly easy.

Now that 70 mil one. Anybody build this one yet? Did you just keep plugging players in and out until you get lucky enough to make them match? There's got to be a strategy to make this one not quite so painful to build.
