Ward does a lot of useful things and is cost effective but yeah now you're putting a lot of weight on who ever your SF is going to be

@ben, the only steph I'm talking about is the 15-16 season. you've had 14 seasons of the ODL since the 15-16 NBA season became available in the SIM? But I'll bite. How many times out of how many times has 15-16 steph made the playoffs since he's been available for draft in the ODL?
15-16 Curry has made the playoffs 4 out of 8 seasons.

5 out of the last 14 seasons.

Wow. I would have guessed more often than that. Maybe the top of the draft isn't the place to be.

wow! unbelievable.

please tell me 66-67 Wilt makes the playoffs more than 50%?

The very top of the draft is owners who missed the playoffs the year before. Most often a star player missing the playoffs is not the fault of the player, but rather the owner.

clearly, but these players are hard to screw up. you have to work HARD to not make the playoffs with 12-13 Lebron.

Agreed. But go back and look at some of those LeBron teams. Those owners definitely worked hard.

I think that the 66-67 Wilt wasn't even used last season. For me, that goes back to the salary cap discussion. What is the point of taking a player who you can't fit under the cap? For me, $47 million is difficult. I know there are some here who could make the best Wilt and $47 million work, but I don't think I could do it.

Well... I sure wouldn't pass up the opportunity to try if given a top pick. $47M isn't my ideal cap either. I'm more of a $50 to $52M player, and do pretty well in those leagues. I'll stretch to between $48-$55M. Don't really care to play above $55M...just no diversity in top teams. Never play below $47M... would have a learning curve for sure.

I don’t find it to be that surprising. Owner is going to be way better indicator of making the playoffs versus a specific player.

Goes back to what I hinted at earlier, I think you could be better at picking playoffs by looking exclusively at owners than if you looked at rosters by themselves without knowing who the owner is.
