use ppg, rpg & apg given in the GM center when you try to sub someone in.  search for .1 below and above of the three categories and it will narrow it down to 1 or 2 guys, normally.  Then, using the per/mid/paint it's very easy to tell who is who.

??? But once the team is put in a league and rookies generated, how can you do a player search?

You need a spare team in the draft center to use the search tools.
You could use an exhibition team to do that

seeing more & more of this strat recently.  The results are as impressive as ever.  Right now Sephy13 has a Lebron doing this:

GP Min Pts OReb Reb FG FG3 FT AST TO STL BLK FL
Per Game 43 39.4 37.0 0.8 9.4 74.8% 50.3% 72.0% 6.3 4.1 1.9 1.2 1.3
Totals 43 1694 1591 36 403 668/893 75/149 180/250 273 178 81 53 56

He went 73-9.  As you can see, he rested his guys 8 games.  He lost all 8 of those.  That means he was 73-1 in the 74 he tried.

73-1.

I think we have a winner.

Very interesting. So the A/T ratio, here a mere 1.7, doesn't mean nearly as much as simply the number of assists--turnovers be damned.
8/14/2014 4:20 PM
I have won several rings while leading the league in turnovers (as in, having the most).  You absolutely have to be super strong in other areas to get away with it.  This strategy, obviously, focuses on getting high fg% because of those assists.
8/14/2014 6:27 PM

In a way it's kind of discouraging--success in the game essentially comes down to building one number as high as you can. Kinda takes some of the fun out of it, but I guess winning is fun, too.

8/15/2014 11:10 AM
Wow, and killed his opp. on the boards?  Looks like we have the top cookie cutter of all time in double stockton, lebron, magic boerwinkle.
The idea looks like fun.  Trying to manage a team with 16600 mins does not.

8/15/2014 12:47 PM
Well, he seemed to manage it by sitting his starters and tanking 8 games. Also kind of a discouraging--but winning--approach.
I guess I'm just too naive about this game (I won't even use clones). Which might explain why I've been beaten in 4 of my 5 finals appearances!

this is absolutely a false statement.  Very rarely does this strategy (building one number, not the ast% in particular) prove this dominant.  Remember, this is an OPEN league we're talking about, and while I advocate playing in open leagues, what you can sometimes get away with in one is not indicative of everything.

Please explain further. Just talking open leagues here--was this 73-9 season an exception?

Meaning if you do draft leagues your going to have a much harder time putting this type of team together
