which outsider... and how much of the vote did that person have? Ted and Trump have 80%.

Also - correct me if I'm wrong - but the 2016 delegate rules committee takes the last version of the rules and THEN makes amendments to it so they would indeed be voting to strike rule 40b rather than add the rule. They don't start from total scratch.

found this - so yes, they would have to vote to remove rule 40b if they want it removed.

The thing is, the party controls the rule making process. The delegates probably prefer Cruz to Trump, but they might prefer someone else to either. Or, if prefer isn't the right word, they might view another candidate as actually having a chance in November. So, when no one has 1237, they can tweak the rules however they see fit to give the right guy the nomination.

When Trump misses 1237, he's done.

If Cruz or Trump don't come out of the convention with the nominee, the republican party is done.

Unlikely. If Ryan is the nominee the GOP is getting the Whitehouse.

There I disagree. To do this clearly means that the PEOPLE'S vote doesn't matter. They voted for Trump and Cruz, the elites would have picked Ryan. I think there will be a genuine revolt if this happens. I'm not opposed to that either.

What happens in that revolt? Repubs refuse to vote and hand Hillary the White House? That's happening if Trump wins the nom. And likely happens if Cruz wins. Pretty scary revolt, huh?

You haven't thought it through..... There's more then just a presidential vote on the ballot.

So the Republican voters will give up the House and Senate in this revolt?

Yes. If Trump or Cruz aren't the eventual nominee, 80% of the Republican voters will feel slighted by the establishment. The same voters that are voting for Washington outsiders. If they don't show up at the polls naturally they won't be voting for house and senate seats. THAT is why the establishment will not be dumb enough to bring in a new candidate at the convention. THAT's the leverage that Cruz and Trump are building up by making rule 40b a public issue.

You sound like a Trump/Cruz infomercial. That's nonsense. People are dumb, I'll give you that, but there's no way any reasonable conservative gives up the White House, Senate and House with a protest non-vote.

I'll vote in other elections. I just won't vote for Trump or Hillary. No way in hell would I let the Libs have WH, S and HoR if I could help it.
