I'm defending my point.

I'm not now and I never have advocated riots. But I understand how they happen and I'm much more concerned with a racist justice system than I am with a riot that is over and that didn't kill anyone.
"I'm not now and I never have advocated riots."

You do realize that the following are your words, do you not?

"Let's say, for the sake of argument, that the justice system in America is racist against blacks. Let's also say, for the sake of argument, that this racism had been essentially ignored until black people started protesting and rioting. And finally, let's say that the attention brought from the protesting and rioting actually delivered a meaningful change in the way the justice system treats black people.

In that case, would the rioting be ok?

I say yes.

That's a hypothetical.

That's a hypothetical.
So hypothetically, riots can be justified.  But in reality, they can't.

That's some rock solid logic right there.

Good job.

BL knows he's taken a retarded stance.  You can't say:

1.  We have to do away with the death penalty because we might kill one innocent person.

And then say:

2.  If rioting could provide justice for people who are discriminated against, it's just.

Simply because rioting doesn't affect only the guilty.   Innocents are harmed.

BL, while an idiot, knows he's ****** himself.

Take a few days off, BL.   No one will miss you.

Do yourself a favor, BL.   Take my advice.   See ya' Friday or so.   In another thread.

You were on some rant about lawlessness never being justifiable. I laid out a hypothetical where a riot would be justifiable.

So if all the circumstances in your hypothetical happened to fall into place, you're OK with rioting, destruction, damage to innocent people's property, etc?  Because it will all be covered by insurance?
1/25/2016 3:17 PM
I wouldn't be ok with it because of insurance. I'd be ok with it because the benefit to society would outweigh the cost. But I'd rather that benefit be acheived through a less violent and destructive way.

So you're changing your story from last year?
1/25/2016 3:47 PM
No, like last year, I'm not advocating rioting. At the same time, I can see how the protesters would view it as a viable option to bring attention to an issue that needs it.

Do you believe that everybody who participates in such activity is doing it to address a higher social cause?

Or maybe they just want to break some **** and get free stuff?

Obviously, there are some that fall into the second group.

Some, or most?

I don't know.
