Obstruction is a tool to regain power. Say no to everything, block your opponent from getting anything done, blame opponent for lack of progress.
Let's keep walking this back.... During Obama's 1st term his party held 58 of 100 Senate Seats and 257 of 435 House Seats. What were the republicans going to obstruct?
