I have 1985 Orel Hershiser in a 100M theme league (Random Captain).  In the first half of the season he went 7-5; since then, he's gone on a 14-1 tear to bring his record up to 21-6.  His ERA when he was 7-5?  2.23.  His ERA now?  2.23! 

Believe It or Don't!

I have 1971 Ernie McAnally in a prog league.  He's the 5th best starter on my team (RL ERC+ of 103).  His record is 12-0 and his ERA is 1.64.  How is that possible?  I only start him against the crappy teams!

In a 1912 prog draft, I used my 3rd round pick to select a rookie outfielder.  His name?  Casey Stengel.  My username is crazystengel!

You might want to consider dumping Hershiser and McNally while they have value, before their "bad version" aspects kick in. lol

That Hershiser is telling me that it is better to have a low oav# than a low bb/9#.  Then again it is a theme. I believe!

Did Stengel say "crappy teams"?  The politically correct term is Owner or managerilly challenged. And why start this forum when you could have simply built a high powered back patting apparatus. ha!

I once had a Giants franchise team finish 80-82 and out of the playoffs.  However, it was a live league, and the owner who finished first in my division did not meet the live game minimum requirement.  Thus, my team advanced to the playoffs on a technicality, and won the World Series.  Believe It or -- hang on, hang on, I'm not done.  The team then went on...to win a TOC!

Everyone here that "knows what they're doing", still manage somehow to lose more than 50 games a season. And If 2 guys know exactly what they're doing and each have the perfect team, who wins?

I'm not sure if this qualifies or not, but I just completed an OL where one of my OFs (1914 Lou Frazier) hit .279 with a .364 obp, scored 40 runs and stole 60 bases in 66 attempts. What makes this so special? He did it in only 240 ABs and he only cost $1.0 mil.
