My goal was economical pitching, high contact and average at Busch stadium with a bit of speed. My plan is to platoon Eddie Stanky with a AAA or pickup, and bring up my two AAA pitchers for bullpen/mop up help.

i see you have 5 guys in the bullpen while I have like 9 with some guys that can spot start.  I'm only in my second league but your team looks pretty balanced, Good Luck let us know how it goes.

I believe if you draft 4-5 pitchers with enough innings, you shouldn't need spot starters. I'm only a bit nervous I won't have enough bullpen innings. I'll have to suck everything I can get out of my 4 starters and one AAA starter.

ive seen really good teams make it with a few bullpen guys that have 50 to 60 innings pitched, so we shall see.

I've got a Doc White, Rube Waddell and Todd Stottlemyer as my 3 pitchers with hopefully spot starting here and there Steve Stone, Bill Foxen and Kitson(who all have around 100 ip).  My league starts tommorrow and I feel like I'm going to run into some issues with pitching fatigue.

I'd worry more about the quality of the pitchers than their fatigue

I have to agree with redwingscup.  The quality of your pitching is really suspect, and you would need incredible hitting to overcome that.  I don't think Todd Stottlemyre has an ERC season better than 3.39.  I don't know which Doc White you're using but, if it's one of the better ones (like `06) he probably doesn't give you enough innings to justify a 3-man rotation.  A 3-man rotation should have 900+ innings in most parks, preferably pretty well balanced .  Stone, Foxen and Kitson don't look like anything remarkable.

It's hard to pick a single stat to rely on more than others in choosing pitchers, but ERC is usually a pretty reliable indicator, even though it doesn't correlate directly to much on the field.  I'm usually pretty gunshy of pitchers with an ERC over 2.50 unless they serve some specialized function on your team like eating up innings. 

Stottlemyer was selected because he is a sinker baller and I wanted to try him at us cellular but you rright the Doc White I have is already tired. I'm going to have to give up one of my good hitters for a 200 innings pitcher on the waiver wire. what is ERC? thanks for the input, it helps.

I'm on board with redwingscup and thunder 1008.  Quality, will almost always beat quantity, with the ocassional exceptions.  Me personally, I generally draft between 950 and 1000 high quality starting pitching innings, i.e. starters with sub 2.00 erc#'s.  Guys like 08 Joss, 08 Walsh, 10 Walsh, 17 Ciccotte, 00 Pedro, 95 Greg, etc.  Of course they dont's guarantee a championship.  But if you draft your position players well, place them in the right park and have these type pitchers, you should do very well. But hey, to each his own, becuase I've lost to guys who've had inferior pitching.  So in other words, you have to see what works best for you, depending on what kind of team you want.

thanks mixtroy, I am learning as I go along, its alot of fun. I was also wondering if I can drop multiple players for one free agent? I have a Pedro Bourbon with a 2 mil salary. Can I take him and another position player and drop them for one free agent?

Being a sinkerballer in RL means absolutely nothing in the SIM.  Pitch types don't matter, just stats.  If you wanted a sinkerballer for the purpose of inducing ground balls and giving up fewer HR, then the HR/9 stats are important.

Of course you can drop more than one player in order to pick up another player on the waiver wire - PROVIDING YOU HAVE ENOUGH PAs AND INNINGS PITCHED to cover for what you're dropping.  However, as a little heads up.  Unless the player you intend to pickup is either (1) an obvious upgrade or (2) is similar to a player you have heavily relied on but is seriously underperforming and hurting your team (late in the season), do your best to stay off the waiver wire, because it will eat your cash up, and by implication, the talent on your roster.  On my very first team, I was in first place for about half a season, but lack of patience and rookie inexperience got the best of me.  And after streak of .300 ball, I began cutting superstars and anybody else who I perceived as costing me first place.  This type of thinking left me with a $60 mil roster and last place.  So in other words, try to be patient and stay off the waiver wire, because you will pay dearly.

yea mix thanks for the advice.  I have a promblem at catcher, where I tried to platoon two catchers both with low plate appearances and now not a week into the season they are both at 94 percent already.  I'm not going to cut a superstar but I'm looking for a catcher with a decent amount of plate appearances and is cheap.
