Don't worry I got it, finally

Just lost what would have been a playoff clinching game. Allowed 3 hits, but 3 unearned runs. Larry Walker, who made 4 real-life errors, drops a fly ball, which was immediately followed by a passed ball, which was followed by bitter defeat. Unearned runs seem to be the lifeblood of this sim. Has anyone ever seen an error that DIDN'T lead to a run? BELIEVE IT OR DON'T!

Update on The Mysterious Case of the OL Owner Who Fell Madly in Love with the Waiver Wire (first mentioned on Page 25 of this thread):

His team started off 5-12 amid a flurry of transactions, but since then things have settled down; in other words, NO waiver wire moves in the past 38 games.  

Good news?  

Well, not entirely.  

Since his last WW move he's lost 38 straight games, dropping his record to 5-50.

Re: The team in the above post.  I reverse forum jinxed 'em!  They just ended their L38 with a 6-5 win, in a game started by an 18% pitcher and closed by a 43% pitcher.

Just lost in the LCS in an OL to a team I went 9-0 against during the regular season (they went 109-53 so....I was surprised I won all 9 to say the least).  Of course, I was swept in the playoffs (with only one close game, the 1st, which ended 1-0 in the 12th).  Odd thing was, lineups for all 13 games were on the whole the same.  No tanking or weird lineups were fielded by either set of teams, nor did the bench shorten in the playoffs.

In contrarian23's No Whining Progressive League, now playing in 1992, first Juan Guzman and then Scott Erickson pitched no-hitters for my Louisville Grays within the space of 14 games!

The more amazing thing is that neither of those gems came against my hapless offense.

And neither was by a particularly great pitcher ! Good ones having pretty good years, but no more than that. 

My sad-sack 1931 New York Yankees team in the "What If the Wild Card Always Existed" theme (real life teams in the pre-wild card era that would have made the playoffs had there been a WC back then) was 10-14 heading into this game vs. the division leader. And heading into the bottom of the 9th we were trailing 8-0, having managed a measly 3 hits up to that point.

Then things got interesting:



HR, double, error, walk, first out, single, walk, walk, second out, single, walk, and finally a grand slam HR!

Oh, and our winning pitcher was our 6% 200K mop, who pitched the final 3 innings without getting injured (injuries on in this theme) while giving up only 2 runs.

Well!  The suspense was certainly building, but I figured the madness would end there.

My OL team the Seattle Socialists got no-hit through 6 innings. The two teams ended up with 23 hits. The final score was 2-0 - in 17 innings !

Ha.  Your 22% rookie pitcher with an ERA of 19.54 and an effectiveness rating of 2 nails down the save with a scoreless 17th.  Bonus points to annoy the losing owner: The pitcher's name is Dickman!

The third - third ! - no-hitter by a team in my gang of teams, the italyprof franchise - in a single month !

This one was by FOUR pitchers (starter was Robin Roberts, he got pinch-hit for after 6 with a 2-0 lead ?!!) on the Baltimore Dodgers - a composite team of 1963-72 Dodgers and Orioles.
