I'm confirming that I'm sticking with the Reds.

Also, are we able to cut any of our 1977 players prior to the draft or do we have to carry everyone for this season?

And I'll also add that if sometime down the road you wanted to start a second league that does apply this concept to 1962, I'd probably sign up for that too.

I'll also say that I would be in favor of drafting our franchises instead of first come/first serve. Create a random draft order, everyone picks their teams, and then flip the order and do a straight draft (1-20, 1-20,...) after that.

I'm fine leaving it as is, but if that would be an option I'd vote yes on it.

A couple people have mentioned that, but a few others have said they signed up specifically to get the franchises they "grew up with".  That's the reason I took the Mariners - they were probably a very bad choice from the standpoint of liking to win!  I think it's too late to make that change now, but might be a good way to go if starting over.

Carry everyone into 1977 without cuts, but you can stick lots of players in AAA, and draft additional players from the six unclaimed franchises.

Note that Tom Seaver belongs to the Mets, not the Reds.  But those Reds are loaded anyway!

Loaded offensively, but that pitching staff? It's obvious why they felt they needed Seaver.

I might be in the trade market for some arms after the draft.

So, if the Mets want to trade Seaver for  Pat Zachry,  Doug Flynn, and Dan Norman. I'd consider it...

Just looking at the thread, it looks like we actually need 3, not 2, since the Royals are listed but don't have an owner. That means that if dannyjoe didn't take another team, we'd have exactly 16 owners and he might consider going with the 16 we have instead of waiting for three more people. Just a thought.....

Just waiting for the final sign-ups.  MVG99 joined with the Royals, that leaves one more sign-up needed.

1)   do we have any Keepers that we are required to keep?  Or is it 100% up to us as to who we keep from our teams roster?

2)  probably been asked but I can't find it yet.   If a player played for 2 teams but the first team he played with that season is not a member of this league....do I get that player or is he a FA?

1). For the first season, keep everyone so we don't need additional time getting keepers posted. I'll set the number of AAA spots so large that all the players can be accounted for. In subsequent seasons, there is a limit on number of keepers, but you choose who they are.

2) He'd be in the draft pool if his first 1977 game was for a team that went unclaimed. Similarly with rookies in the future, if a player's first game in his WIS rookie season was for one of those unclaimed teams, he'll be in the draft pool.

I've bumped an Available Players thread in the SimLeague Baseball Theme Leagues forum. That can be used for the draft.

What do we do with players who were traded in th 1977 season?  Who gets the player?  eg. Tom Seaver, Pat Zachry.  This will affect the Mets and the Reds.

I asked that as well - for 1977 it's the one he played his for game that year. Seaver is a Met.

A player belongs to whoever his first 1977 game was with, in Seaver's case the Mets. Baseballreference.com has game logs to determine that.

About AAA -- does everyone on 1977 Roster have to be on 30 man roster?  eg. Joe Torre had 54 PA for the Mets -- does he count towards the 30 man roster or can I dump him?  What about similar situations?

I'll set enough roster spots that everyone can be kept for 1977, not worrying about keepers until 78.  Just remember that anyone you intend to keep for '78 has to appear in at least 5 games for you during '77, or else that player goes into the '78 rookie + waived draft pool.

So how many draft picks are there?
