I mentioned something along that line also but it has it's flaws too.   Is there a discernible difference between 68 and 73?    It seems like an impossible task unless you work it backwards(meaning do it after the season when we somewhat "know" who the best teams are).     Maybe do last season and use it as a protype for this season. 
That's what I kind of do. I have an initial formula that gives me a baseline, and then it goes through again and values games based on the baseline "strength" of each team.

Kinda circular, but it is the best I could come up with to address the issue you are speaking of.

Well, I think he wants you to click his link which generates revenue.  

But, on a larger note, I think he believes, when all it said and done, that his rankings will reflect the "true" rankings of the teams.   Problem is that until conference games are in full force, the Georgia State/Alabama game really hurts 'bama. 
I don't and haven't made a dime off of my website since 2004.

If you know we will have a field day then you know it doesn't pass the eye or smell test and if you can't pass that, then why even bother?

Point is computer polls are going to be quirkier in the beginning of the season, and should smooth out as the season progresses.

sure they are going to be quirky, but all of those at least pass the eye test.  Colonels does not.

Not sold on Auburn but OSU at 8th sounds about right.   I think I could name 7 teams that Vegas would favor on a neutral field.
