I still don't understand why BL thinks he's dictating the discussion. You can talk about whatever you want to talk about but that doesn't mean everyone else is chasing you, dumbass.

The entire discussion is centered on whiff vs. productive out. Your contention is that "an out is an out". Everyone else says another type of out has a chance to be "productive" and, therefore, is better than a whiff. In a low scoring environment, the difference between the two is greater.

I'm curious to know who he thinks is discussing "value in terms of runs" with him, considering he is the only one that's brought it up in this thread.

No, you dumb ************, you're talking about one thing. Everyone else is talking about the value of a productive out. Which, stupid, is more important(valuable) in a low scoring situation. Please stop being a retard. I beg of you.

Had to unblock you because I knew you were still being stupid. Back to block.
The value of a productive out relative the value of a non-productive out and the value of a double play.

We measure those values in terms of runs (or fractions of runs).

Do you have another way to measure it?

I'm pretty sure BL could put a mirror on his desk and argue with himself so, perhaps, that's it.

I'm now picturing him as a Gollum, with a picture of Bill James as his "precious".

Either that or he just converses with the picture of Bill.

Would it really be an argument, or would it just be hours of each of them alternating between saying stupid **** and praising each other for their brilliance?

I'm not sure that BL would agree with himself if locked in a room alone. That doesn't seem to be his personality.

I'm not sure he'd be able to disagree either. The focus of the argument would just keep infinitely changing.

IF BL had focused on the discussion at hand, I think it could have been a decent one. God, he sure went on some tangents.

That happens when he knows he's taken the wrong position.

Pretty sure the topic hasn't changed. We're talking about the value of outs compared to the value of productive outs.

How should we measure that value?

Poor, dumb BL.

So dumb.

a productive out is an out that produces an outcome that could be helpful to the team (a ground out to the right side with a man on 1st or 2nd base). A non-productive out is a strike out at any time. How else can you measure that?
