The LIVE portion of this chat will begin on

Because the dev chat was so popular on Tuesday, a second dev chat was needed. We've carried over unanswered questions, but new questions may also be submitted.
After doing a little checking, in Rupp, for players ranked from #26-50, 14 want strong team, 11 want to play for a loser; and 14 prefer a strong conf while 11 have no pref. It's only a slight advantage for strong teams in a strong conf, vs. real life = a big advantage (I'm only talking 4/5 stars). Seems that maybe Top 50 should have more pref for strong team/strong conf, but lower rated very high potential should be where the preferences start evening out? (hawkfan1991 - Hall of Famer - 1:07 PM)
We've been reviewing preferences and currently testing improved logic. For example we're going to make the top recruits value success more and make it less likely for them to favor a rebuild. There are a few cases where the preferences don't make sense and we're trying to eliminate that. When we're ready to release the improvement we'll make a detailed post about it.
Is prestige considered separate from preferences by a recruit? For instance, will a player wanting a rebuild be turned off by high prestige, or does a high prestige team get separate "credit" in their efforts, such that the prestige "cancels out" the preference? (pkoopman - Hall of Famer - 1:13 PM)
Prestige is a separate factor. A player favoring a rebuild is going to favor a school that's had less success than others.
It would be helpful if the "Max Distance" options in the Recruit Pool search were expanded to also include 750, 1500, and 2000 miles options to give it the same distance breakdowns that the "Assistant Search" has. (pseudochamp - Hall of Famer - 1:14 PM)
Good suggestion. This will be added soon.
Can you please add a marker that indicates whether a recruit has any Campus Visits remaining? As a follow up, will a recruit EVER sign with a school that could not be visited because of the five visit limit? (wvufan76 - Hall of Famer - 1:17 PM)
Good suggestion. We'll review and see what we can do. Yes, it's possible to sign a recruit that cannot visit your school but has visited others.
Any world-specific Forums like 2.0? (davefilby - Hall of Famer - 1:18 PM)
The HD world-specific forums still exist - they aren't going anywhere.
If you are looking for just a particular player, can you scout just for those positions? (boobyknight - Hall of Famer - 1:20 PM)
There are several ways to scout but if you're just focusing on one position you can use the Assistant Coach Search to target recruits only at that position. You can discover new recruits or use it to further scout those you have discovered.
I noticed that one of the developers posted the answer to a question on a thread on the forums.I think this is huge because many players have complained that the developers have seemed absent from many years. Can we expect more posts on issues that are really unclear, especially with the new engine? (chapelhillne - Hall of Famer - 1:29 PM)
Yes, we've been keeping an eye on the forums but we'll make sure to interact more moving forward.
Are the number of D1 recruits more or less now than there were before? (sovren - Hall of Famer - 1:32 PM)
They are the same as before as this did not change. The amount of recruits generated each season is based on the total number of scholarship openings with some extra to make sure that all scholarships can be filled.
Seble mentioned during Beta that he was pretty flexible on budgets. It seems like D3 scouting budget is really low and makes it difficult to find players. Any chance that the budgets could be changed after some time? (Benis - Hall of Famer - 1:35 PM)
Yes, we'll make adjustments to the budgets if they prove not to be sufficient.
You made a comment about wanting to be in step with real life. The area where the in real life stuff makes the most sense is in regards to gameplay. Currently the shot clock is at 35 seconds. A few seasons back the real life shot clock changed to 30 seconds. When will this change be mimicked in HD? If it is in the next update when will that update occur? (therewas47 - Hall of Famer - 1:38 PM)
Yes, this is something that we can look into further.
Can DII team recruit a player listed as DI in first recruiting period? (boobyknight - Hall of Famer - 1:40 PM)
No, a team cannot sign a recruit listed for a higher division until the second recruiting window.
I tried the beta for a few seasons and I am convinced scouting is much more time consuming to do it well. Way too much effort compared to fun aspects. I've had jobs with drudgery like this. dont think that the absence of gripes means that all users are happy. I'll may try a season but I expect to go even though I have seasons. This was a wonderful game and could have been even better. (fd343ny - Hall of Famer - 1:50 PM)
Scouting is a new dynamic to the game as in the previous version all recruits were known. There are several different ways to discover and further scout recruits and our goal is make it more realistic. With all of the scouting tools available you should be able to scout enough players within the amount of time you want to spend on it. Coaches that do not want to spend much time can take advantage of the quick mass scouting actions while those that do want to spend more time can scout further individually. We encourage all users to try out all of the options to figure out what works best for them.
Why are so many battles people are losing when the team is Very High by the recruit but the person winning the battle is High status? What is the purpose when you do everything right and you still lose the battle. I've seen this happen plenty of times in test. (iwanturmind2 - Hall of Famer - 2:05 PM)
In the previous version of HD the team with the most interest would always sign the recruit. As as result there were fewer battles. We've changed that to make it more realistic and to promote more battles over recruits. With that being said the team with the highest interest is still going to win the recruit the majority of the time. However, there will be some cases where that doesn't happen. Only a couple worlds have begun to recruit but thus far a majority of the signed recruits have gone with the team that had the most interest as expected. Only 3% have gone with a High interest team over a Very High interest.
If two teams are both listed as "Very High" is there a way to tell which team is technically ahead statistically speaking in that battle? (sh0wtime99 - Hall of Famer - 2:07 PM)
No, there is no way to tell which team is ahead when comparing teams of the same interest.
Would it be possible to add a "Minimum Distance" option to the Recruit Pool search? (pseudochamp - Hall of Famer - 2:10 PM)
Good suggestion. We've been discussing this and will review adding it.
I noticed the location of a recruits overall and positional rankings and state mr basketball on a recruit page changed overnight in Rupp. Is active updating going on in all worlds on an incremental basis, or will bigger milestone updates be more common? Thanks (guyo26 - Hall of Famer - 2:12 PM)
We'll be continuing to release updates - please make sure to keep an eye on the Critical News Forum post as we'll make sure details are listed there.
Thank you to all for participating today. Be sure to keep an eye on the forums for further discussion.
