Season Predictions (Year 14)
Dancers:
Big: Saint Marys (#2 seed), Marymount (#7 seed), and Catholic (#12 seed)
Little: York
*I've fallen off the Hood bandwagon until next year.
I think Goucher could sneak in, but will need to split with Urd and me in conference play to get there.
SMM is the must win now team. Marymount has gear for this year, but Tosh leads a solid non-senior core. They can still dance next year.
BMill's been mum on whether this is his CAC swan song. He probably doesn't want all the parting gifts.
All Conference:
PG: Matney (MW). This is a down year for PG's; they are principally pass-first (Cullen from Hood) or SG's trapped in a PG's position. Matney dropped 50+ on opening night, and only 9 a game since, but he can also dish it and there ain't a lot of competition.
SG: Sliva (Gallaudet). Am I the only one who thinks of him as Silva? What kind of name is Sliva? Anyway, Turner from York will also be in this mix. Edmonds from CUA is a dark horse here.
SF: Cooper or Crain? I'll take Crain (MW) who I think will have his minutes stretched and be more productive as the year progresses.
PF: Cozart (Goucher). Butler from Marymount is the other real candidate, but I think Cozart's rebounding edge will lead to more and more 2nd chance hoops and points.
C: Justin Fermin's last dance has been a loud one. He's the obvious POY, looking for vengance after his perceived snubbing by the voters last year. Lonnie Beach is the 2nd best big man in the conference. That's not faint praise, he's a stud.
POY: Justin Fermin (Salisbury). Beach is a stud, but Fermin is definitely the big dog in this pound.
COY: BMill. Wolfe shocked the world by taking home this honor. Maybe it's Urd's turn.
ROY: My mancrush on McCann has been previously noted. Staats and Rohe have had nice starts to their year, but as McCann's IQ catches up, his stats will continue to ascend from their already solid levels.
