New recruiting in less than 24 hours

Looking forward to seeing what kind of recruits I can get to fill out the roster. Hoping to scrape out an NT bid this year, but who knows.

I'm looking forward to surviving recruiting. I'll give you a preview on the conference: all BMill, all the time. We had to enjoy him sorta down the last two years because he's giving back to us for the next two.

Recruiting summary (south):

Saint Mary's:

Grover ThomsonFr.PG6'0"185Allentown, PA--

What do you get the team that has everything? A future stud PG, of course. This team lost out on local boy Gallagher who would have made a nice inside-outside combo 2 years from now.

York:

Stanton PinnixFr.SG6'0"185Flushing, NY--
Dikembe RealFr.SF6'2"190Scranton, PA--
Warren JacoFr.C6'6"224Gleurnie, MD--

The best last names of any recruiting class in the cou, bar none. Pinnix edges Crews for worst WE of a decent recruit in the conference. He can take steps backwards the next few years and still contribute. Real is the foil. Mediocre now, monster WE. Jaco is a no speed, solid center. An interesting long-distance grab for Rogue.

Hood:

Kim MyrickFr.SF6'6"225Chambersburg, PA--

I know lido was hoping for better, but 1 man classes can be tough. Myrick might be able to contribute as a decent Rebounding and scoring SF, but his lack of ATH and DEF will hurt on the other end of the court.

Cris JonesFr.PG6'0"180Wyncote, PA--
Leroy TuthillFr.SG6'2"185Rockville, MD--
Arthur StaatsFr.SG6'3"184Strafford, PA--
Glenn ColemanFr.SF6'2"182Hagerstown, MD--
Robin GregoireFr.PF6'8"218Dumfries, VA--
Russell HamiltonFr.PF6'6"204Midlothian, VA--
Michael HerbertFr.C6'8"210Ft Washington, PA--

A decent class. Jones and Tuthill are a conference champion caliber backcourt in the making. My big complaint is the addition of some flotsam and jetsam that he'd have just as soon continue to float around in the abyss. The nice thing about a big class is that you don't have to fill it. I'd rather have the extra $$ next year than drag Staats around.

Baptist Bible:

Andy LuncefordFr.PG6'2"203Terre Hill, PA--
Zachary SizemoreFr.PF6'6"207Basking Ridge, NJ--
Ronald BauerFr.PF6'9"233Terre Hill, PA--

Wolfe brings in the high school teammates. Ballish. All might contribute down the road, but Sizemore is the farthest away.

Chestnut Hill:

Quinton MilazzoFr.PG5'11175Rockaway Park, NY--
Roger AdamsFr.PF6'8"222Wilkes Barre, PA--
Robert BoberFr.C6'10245Mcsherrystown, PA--
Michael CastelliFr.C6'8"233North East, MD--

Very, very nice stuff here. All could help some even this year, Adams could probably double effectively as a SF, particularly against zones. This is the best class in the South.

Well done overall, we were the #1 rated recruiting conference which bodes well for the next few years. CAC for life.

andrew, I think i'll be very good next year...only losing Peek and I'mpretty sure I can replace him with one of my sophomore pgs
1/20/2006 9:27 PM
I took a chance on Staats because his FG % was 57% in high school and his FT % was about 72%. He's redshirting this year. We'll see what he has next year. Also, my big man Michael Herbert has a 90 WE. Could be huge by his sr. year. Lastly, I pulled in 7 recruits and do have a decent amount of $$$ for next year. I don't expect to win more than a few games this year, but hopefully my guys will be decent in a few years!

The problem with Staats redshirting is his low WE - he might gain 20 points this season, but he's liable to give a chunk of it back in the offseason. Hopefully he pans out for you though.

Good work Andrew. Thanks for putting in the extra time.

It isn't going to be easy, that's for sure. I'll like my chances better next season, but there isn't ever going to be an easy year in this conference.

Year 13 Preview (though belated):

THE CAC enters its 13th year strong, having landed the top conference recruiting class in all D3. The season should shape up pretty competitively, here are my predictions:

1/24/2006 9:03 PM
All Conference:

PG- Troy Garcia (Chestnut) - the strength is at SG. Stanton, Santora, Cain or Peek could also be among those to make noise at the point.

SG- Alex Eldridge (Goucher) - He and Darrell Johnson will again be the best guards (offensively) in the conference and will be 1st and 2nd team.

SF- Sonny Knox (Villa Julia) - By default? We graduated all the top SF's

PF- Jorge Priolo (MW)

C - Justin Fermin (Salisbury) - don't rule out Murphy or Boldin from Gallaudet

POY: Fermin. Too big, too strong.

Coach of the Year: BMill. Never underestimate BMill. Presumably he'll stop going slow down at some point some and destroy opposition with waves of juniors.

Freshman of the Year: James "Scooter" Magee (Catholic); I'm not sure if redshirt freshman can get this. If so, Mario Wright from Catholic will also be in the hunt.

Bound for the Big Dance: Saint Mary's (4th seed), Baptist Bible (11th), Gaulladet (14th)

Stuck at the Junior Prom: Mary Washington (just don't have the rebounding to seal the deal), Marymount (wait... until... next... year)

Just out: Catholic (So many low IQ's, so little time), Goucher (their top 5 scare me, but the rest... not so much)

Thanks for the motivation, andrew!

The funny thing about my one signing is my AD told me he was psycho. I guess I should have paid for the personality test.
