Addicted Users Season 67 - Full Topic

In a shocking development Addicted Users finds itself with 6 openings (Down to 4). However, this is actually a good thing in that we can give an opportunity to join our group to a large number of new owners. Bringing in new blood can be a scary thing to some, but we embrace this opportunity.
The available teams are evenly split between the AL & NL so depending on your preference in League you should find a team to your liking. Here is a brief review of the available teams:

American League

AL North
Former Detroit Franchise (95-67, 1st pl)
The long-time owner of this team has decided to leave on a high note as his team was very successful last season and for the last several seasons. The only weakness this team had was speed but with a team .273 batting avg, over 200 HRs & 850 runs scored, that would truly be nitpicking. (4) players scored over 100 runs, and the dynamic bats of Radhames Diaz (34, 141, .271), Kris O’Neill (36, 122, .264 & Lonny Howington (27, 111, .273) this team has things under control offensively.
You ask about the pitching staff? What about (3) starters with 15 wins or more led by Harry Hamilton (23-5, 2.25) and his 23 wins. A 3.88 ERA shows this team has a strong staff with the only weaknesses being the 5th spot in the rotation and the possible need for a true closer, although the staff did save 37 of the 45 opportunities they had.
As you might suspect, a team drafting late with a powerhouse offense & pitching staff at the ML level has little at the minor level so it will be advisable to see if more young talent can be brought in. This team can be handled by either a veteran or newbie, with the new owner needing to evaluate whether they can sustain their window or needing to be concerned about the future of the organization.

Former Dover Franchise (68-94, 3rd pl)
This team has struggled the last 2 seasons and has had some turnover in management recently. The offense struggled as it put up a mere .241 batting average. Earl Dugan (34, 101, .298) is a star as his numbers show. He does get some support from the likes of Charles Ramirez (38, 98, .231), Rusney Seguignol (29, 75, .224), with them making the most of the opportunities they get without solid batting avgs.
On the bump the team’s 4.29 ERA shows the potential for this team to do even better with some more help from the offense. (4) starters finished with more than 11 losses, but Karim West (3.46), Sam Watson (3.86), & Yadier Ortiz (4.11) all deserved better.
This team needs more help to bring up the team batting avg & OBP to allow more opportunities for the big boppers to do their thing. A shutdown closer and some additional bullpen help would be something to look for with a 5th starter possibly being the most pressing issue. In AA, Michael Snell (SP) looks like someone that will be able to help the big league squad, however at the moment there looks like there is little else to crow about on the farm. A vet would probably be able to make some quick mores to get this team into the playoff hunt while a newbie would have an ok team to start their Addicted User career as they figure out the game and playing style they want to use.

AL South

Former Nashville Franchise (67-95, 3rd pl)
It has been a while since this team has taken home the division crown, and the management situation hasn’t been very stable compounding the frustration of the fan base. Normally a .267 team batting average and (4) players scoring 88 runs or more would be the signs of a good offense, yet only scoring 714 runs shows this team had issues driving in runners. Evan Reed (22, 107, .287) & Darrin Thompson (25, 85, .282) are the big bats, however more power is needed. Howie Hodges (95 Runs Scored, 35 SB) & Jose Garza (94 Runs Scored, 30 SB) both provide speed and had more than 150 hits so there should be opportunities if players that can drive them in are found.
Walter Simmons (10-8, 4.07) was the only starter to finish with a winning record, yet starters Del Martinez (4.56) & Stefen Baptist (4.98) did put up sub 5.00 ERA’s. The team’s ERA was a respectable 4.69 but additions to both the starting staff and pen will be necessary to change this team’s fortunes.
The minor leagues don’t have an overflowing amount of talent but there are some gems that should rise to the ML level to aid the big club. This team is in need of a patient owner whether it be a vet or newbie. A plan needs to be drawn up and followed to stabilize the team and progressively enhance both the ML talent and the depth of the minors.

National League

NL North
Former Augusta Franchise (81-81, 2nd pl)
Last season’s .500 finish was the first in several seasons and the last division crown. It has been a long time since this once proud franchise has been a consistent threat for a WS title so the loyal fans of this team are hopeful the next owner will be the one to lead them back to those bygone days. 616 runs and a .249 team batting average don’t typically embody that of a successful year. Yet this team did finish at .500 so changes will be necessary to raise this team to a playoff contender. Bill Barham (27 SB) & Sam Donohue (21 SB) provide some speed. Lee Leary (23 HR) & Riku Choi (75 RBI, .283) are the run producers. More hits (1410) and a better OBP (.310) for this team to scare opposing pitching staffs.
So how did this team put up a .500 record? The staff ERA of 3.61 indicates that with some more help from the offense this team could find a deep run in the playoffs to be possible. Even with a lack of offensive support both Pedro Cubillan (13-6, 3.03) & Asdrubal Machi (11-10, 3.76) posted winning records. All (5) starters finished with sub 4.00 ERA’s so the staff needs little work. The biggest concern will be to find a trustworthy closer with Brooks Clippard converting 9 of 10 opportunities with a 4.26 ERA being of being something to watch if given the fulltime position.
Tony Moya RP, Lyle Small SP, Marty Walters SS, Adrian Melton 1B, appear to be the jewels of the farm system and either ready now or in the near future to help the team. Offense. Offense. And more offense is needed. The new owner will need to add tablesetters and run producers to kick this offense into gear. The closer position may not need to be addressed from outside the organization but time should be used to assess the role. While this team might be better suited to the hand of a veteran owner, the fact that only one area needs to be addressed may make this an excellent opportunity for a newbie.

NL West

Former Seattle Franchise (83-79, 1st pl)
This (4) time division champ took a step back in the win column last season so things will need to be changed to build the team back up. The offense sputtered to score 622 runs with a .241 batting avg so this half of the team will need improvement. Chad Baker (27, 70, .285) & Edgardo Montana (24, 59, .260) are the pieces on the current roster to build around.
The pitchers are the backbone of this team, and they excelled last season in providing a 3.42 ERA to lead this team to the division title. In a very surprising turn of events the rotation had (3) players with double digit losses and the team leader in wins was Javier Pena (11-2, 1.93) with 11. Kenny Kennedy (45/48, 1.80) was an all-star closer & the fireman of the year, so the pitching staff is strong with little to do to make improvements.
The minor league teams offer little in immediate help, however there are a couple of depth pieces that may be helpful if any injuries arise. This is another team that could be handled equally well by a vet or new player. The offense will need all the attention during the early stages of the season with more than tweaks to it being necessary. The pitching staff is in excellent shape, but any changes will have to be made from outside the organization at least in the short term.

Former San Francisco Franchise (75-87, 2nd pl)
Last season’s one and done owner is gone. It’s been 8 seasons since this team finished above .500 and even longer since it’s last division title. This has been a successful team over time and a return could be possible for a man/woman with a plan. Again, a lack of offense sunk the team. In the NL a team batting avg of .244 and 635 runs scored have become more commonplace. Yet it’s not surprising that this led to a less than successful season. Hugh Stanley (30, 92, .264) is the offensive star and as you can imagine there wasn’t a whole lot more. With only 144 HRs & 120 SBs the new owner will need to choose an identity for this team and build in that direction.
As is also commonplace in the NL, this team has a strong pitching staff and with some more run support would do much better in the standings. Pitchers Sticky Griffin (7-9, 3.23), you have to love that name, and Pepe Arias (10-12, 3.27) deserved much better than they received. However, this staff did struggle in closing out games and blew 22 of their 66 save opportunities. So figuring out who should close or if a closer needs to be brought in from the outside should be on the owner's checklist.
The minors appear to have some future ML’ers that just need a little more time to develop, but that will be better determined after projections are visible. This team could be handled by a veteran who could come in to decide the type of offense he’d like to install or for a newbie who needs some time to learn the game while being competitive from the outset.

So, which of these teams are to your liking and which will you be able to build into a consistent winner. Choose your team and contact me to be added to our world.

Some very strong teams available. Jump on in!

Starting to see some movement. (2) of the AL teams have been grabbed so if you prefer a team in that league there is only one left. Oddly still (3) NL teams left, and I can't explain it. When I first started playing, the NL teams were grabbed quickly, and the AL took a little more work. Anyone know why that has changed over the last 2-3 years?

And don't forget to hit me up with your selection of the team you will guide to the WS trophy.

With Cobb about to finish filling, yes that was a bit of a plug for another world, it's time for serious players to grab the remaining teams here to compete against some very strong owners. Why go against lesser competition when you can really test your skills here? Hit me up for the password and join today.

And then there were two. The opportunity to join us for this coming season is closing fast, don't hesitate and lose out on joining our group. It's an active group that likes to trade, discuss baseball & how well this game represents it, and of course harass torrone. We will be filling in the next few days so contact me now to grab one of the two remaining teams. See you on the BallField.

We have one NL team left. The former Augusta team in the NL North is the lone remaining team. A little surprised that it hasn't been grabbed up already. In my opinion offense is much easier to find than pitching and this team's staff is loaded. If you love pitching, then this is your team. Contact me now, this will be your last opportunity to join us without needing to wait for the next roll.
4/29/2024 8:33 PM
And we are full. Thank you all for your interest. If you'd like to get on our waitlist for next season, please send me a message.
