This league is a variation on an exclusive franchise/player league.
We will be selecting franchises and players from 1885 to 2023
A decade, for our purposes, will be from the 0 to the 9... as in 1950-59.
***You may select a combined, non-contiguous, 1885-89 / 2020-23 era as your pitching or batting "decade"... but keep in mind that this will only work to its maximum effectiveness if your franchise exists in both eras***
A team that moves locations at some point in their history (ex. the Dodgers) is considered to be one franchise for the purpose of this league. See the
Franchise History Thread for more clarity.
The way this works is that each owner will select...
A) an exclusive franchise pitching decade (ex. 1920's Cubs)
B) an exclusive franchise batter decade (ex. 1970's Red Sox)
C) an exclusive franchise face (ex. in this case, a player who played for either the Cubs franchise or the Red Sox franchise
any time between 1885 and 2022)*
Cap: 100M
Standard 24 team WIS format
Random alignment
Pitchers / Batters with salaries of 250K or less may come from any franchise but must be from your exclusive pitching / batting decade.
DH: No
AAA: No
Waivers: No
Trades: No
Clones: No
Twisting: No
Injuries: Yes
Partial Seasons: Yes (so long as you select a segment where the player played for your team)
Ballparks: Use a ballpark one of your franchises used during your selected decades OR WIS Park
Blacklist: Beginning with with Season XX, we will be blacklisting the two WS finalists for five seasons.
First come, first served. I will pick my teams after 15 owners have signed up.
*A bit more clarification on "The Face" and how it works...
If you, say, select the 1920's Cubs pitching and the 1970's Red Sox hitting...
you are able to select, as your Face, any player who played for the the Cubs or the Red Sox between 1885 and 2022 to play on your team... pitching... hitting... doesn't matter.
The only caveats are...
1. you must use a season where he actually played on one of your teams (ex. if the Red Sox are one of your teams, you can select Fred Lynn as your face, but you can only use one of his Red Sox seasons)
2. No one else can already have selected them as their Face.
Additionally #1... although you can't have him as your "Face", you are still allowed to use a player someone else has claimed as their Face, but only if he actually played for one of your teams during the era's you selected. For example (using the hypothetical teams/years above), if someone else selects, say Fred Lynn as their Face... as the exclusive owner of the 1970's Red Sox batters, you can still use any of his 1970's Red Sox seasons.
Additionally #2... you are allowed to choose a face from a blacklisted pitching or batting team.
