Unknown Player Progressive is a new idea and new league that i have been thinking about for for months!
Progressive's which i have played in before most teams have ups and down and playing during the lull can be painful and thats
why a lot of people quit.
So Here is my idea
Initial Player pool will be 40 randomly drawn teams from entire history of WIS
Initial Player draft regular serpentine style draft randomly drawn by non league player
One instance of a player is allowed so if there is 3 Hank Aarons from the teams drawn the first one that drafts him gets him
Going Forward
Keep current players and they progressive to the next year or draft players from pool of 30 new teams
Keepers
This will require you to decide if you want to keep players or draft from list of new teams.
Mimimum of 5 keepers per team
THese Keepers will be unknown to everyone and sent into me and ill send mine to an HOF owner once sent you cannot change after that point.
If you keep a player he moves forward to the next eligible WIS season. Players never miss years. So if you happen to get 1942 Ted Williams if you keep him you get 1946 next.
There is no skipping of years either you must progress to the next season if that player had an eligible next season.
Draft Order will be order random(there is no reason to tank) but......depending on how many keepers you have is where you will draft
If you keep 18 players your first draft pick will be in the 13th round if you keep 6 players you will draft in the 2nd round first if everyone kept
10 players you would get the first 5 picks before anyone else and the really rough part if the pool will be 30 new teams drawn after everyone decides on
their keepers
So How things work
If i keep a player he cannot be drafted by anyone else even if his team is in the pool. Once he retires(no more years going forward) or you drop him he becomes eligible again
example
1930 Babe Ruth is drafted player keeps him until 1935 his 1914-1929 seasons are still available once he is not on a team
If 1929 is in the next pool he can be drafted but since someone already played him 1930-1935 he becomes ineligible
A player is not considered undraftable until he is used. So if you skip over a player in 1983 you can still draft the 1987 version of that player if that year/team is draftable for that season
So I will be keeping track of all players and years used this will be a tedious task
DH: Yes
Ballpark - Any you want to use. You can change from season to season to fit your team
Trading will be disallowed
Divisions will be kept from season to season for rivalry sake
Salary Cap
Also we will use a salary cap 110M (This is negiotable we will see how it goes after first season).
If you cannot fit under the cap for some reason. The last player you drafted goes back into the pool.
As a punishment the other teams that drafted after you get to decide if they want your player and you will pick when everyone is done
If you need to drop 2 players(which should never be the case) same rules apply.
as years progress the player pool gets smaller and smaller due to players getting used so there is some strategy in that. If we need to add more teams to the pool that will be considered after 10ish or so seasons.
Once teams/years are used they will never come up again so if this season has the 2000 A's you will never see that team again plan accordingly
After say the 50th or so season if this last we will clear all the names and teams that have been used and start over with players from season 50 progressing to season 51 and 30 teams from the history of the database again being used.
I will not be listing every player available to draft.
