Right, ltb. I’m just curious to see who he gets for the bench. I might bring Pierce off the bench so that the scoring is consistent for 48 minutes and find some more perimeter defense, but that’s me.

Let me know when all 4 of us have their division draft lists locked in, and then I’ll drop evals.

The suspense is killing me- knowing my team is mediocre and waiting to read my opinion confirmed by dbkc.

Spoiler alert: if I think your team is bad, that’s probably a good thing.

I promise, I still don’t know what I’m doing and I just got lucky last season...but I was told I have to do evals, so here we are.

I’m going to drop 6 at a time. Probably will have all 24 posted by tonight. Don’t get mad at my opinions. Or get mad, what do I care?

Beachhouse

The good: he’s got not just one of the best big men anchors in the game, he’s got two of them. Wilt and Big Ben is a nasty combo up front and they are capable of winning some games alone. Charlie Ward and Jose Calderon were good finds late in the draft.

The bad: TMac AND Melo?! I really think 17-18 still has some undervalued players and had he complimented his great 2 big men by scoring someone like Jimmy Butler late, then I would be worried. I feel like you set a nice foundation and then added two team killers. I hope I’m wrong.

Overall: If a TMac team can work in this league, surrounding him with two elite low-usage centers and two good low-usage PGs is a good start. If he added the right bench pieces, then this team can beat anyone on any given night, but I don’t think this is a playoff team. Wilt is great though so I could easily be wrong.

Roster: Wilt Chamberlain, Ben Wallace, Tracy McGrady, Jose Calderon, Charlie Ward, Reggie Evans, Carmelo Anthony

Ysw128

The good: Steph + Manu is a GREAT backcourt. Dikembe is not only a great defensive anchor up front, but he’s also a great compliment to Steph. I really like this trio, and Mel Daniels aint bad either.

The bad: I feel like the later picks could have been a little better. There was a lot of value left on the board late, I would’ve loved to see you go BPA in the final rounds and grab a guy like Kevin Johnson well after he should’ve been drafted, just to win by having more talent than your opponents. Grant Hill seems like an odd pick IMO.

Overall: I wouldn’t be surprised to see this team make the playoffs. Manu and Dikembe are great compliments to Steph.

Roster: Stephen Curry, Manu Ginobili, Dikembe Mutombo, Mel Daniels, Maurice Cheeks, Bismack Biyombo, Grant Hill

Pennsylvania

The good: So many good players. Dr J, Bill Walton, Bobby Jones, Larry Nance and Tree Rollins are all good players, and trading down gave you some good draft assets.

The bad: No GREAT players. I like Dr J but I don’t know if he can be the best player on a championship team in this league. I also wonder where your shooting is going to come from because the FA pool is pretty devoid of quality 3s.

Overall: I think this team will be okay. I think they’ll compete and give opposing offenses fits. I don’t know if they’ll make the playoffs but it’s certainly possible. If you can somehow get good shooters to fill out the bench and some more passing, then I would say you’re a lock for the playoffs...but I don’t know if the players available make that possible.

Roster: Julius Erving, Bill Walton, Bobby Jones, Larry Nance, Tree Rollins, Nate Archibald, Bob Gross

JCred5

The good: well LeBron is obviously going to go in this category. Actually, there are quite a few good players on this team. LeBron, Elton Brand, Capela, Boerwinkle (or whatever), Mark Price...all good players. The rebounding should be fantastic with Elton at SF, Bron at PG and good big men to compliment them.

The bad: I think Elton is going to get too many shots and his low eFG might shoot you out of games. Aside from Bron, he’s going to be surrounded by lower usage guys and he’ll be taking a lot of shots.

Overall: I wouldn’t count this team out, but I also don’t think they’re a lock. I think it all depends on what you did with the bench. Going off of what I can see, I’d say about .500 but the bench could change that.

Roster: LeBron James, Elton Brand, Clint Capela, Tom Boerwinkle, Mark Price, Buddy Hield, Enes Kanter

DH555

The good: Well, a two man game of Oladipo and Shaq with Horace Grant as their third banana sounds like a recipe for success to me.

The bad: there’s not really too much to put here. I think there were better PGs available over Barros. I don’t know if this team has enough passing.

Overall: Pretty confident this is a playoff team.

Roster: Shaquille O'Neal, Horace Grant, Victor Oladipo, Dana Barros, Anthony Mason, Anderson Varejao, J.R. Smith

uptowngbv

The good: LOTS of talent. MJ and Karl in the first. Gerald Wallace is a pretty good score for that late of a pick. Nate McMillian is always nice.

The bad: I think the Gadzuric/Przybilla front court will lose you a few games and I don’t know if you’ll have enough passing to feed your prize investments. I like MJ and I like Karl but I don’t know how well they compliment each other, especially without being able to land a nice PG and/or C to compliment them. If you had been the one to walk away with KJ at the end, I would’ve been impressed. I also like Gerald Wallace as a player but I don’t know if he’s the type of guy I would’ve selected to compliment MJ/Karl.

Overall: obviously MJ and Karl are going to win games on their own, but I don’t think there’s enough surrounding them to go very far. Maybe the guys you added post-draft change that though.

Roster: Michael Jordan, Karl Malone, Gerald Wallace, Nate McMillan, George Hill, Joel Przybilla, Dan Gadzuric

Lots of 135-133 games in your future. This team can score the ball like crazy and looks like it will rebound very well too, but I think you took more risks on defense than you needed to.

The good: Kevin Johnson with your last pick is crazy good. I would’ve loved to be the team who pounced on him but I had different needs. Dwight and Harden is an interesting duo (in SIM-land...we already know what happened in real life). Lots of threes from Klay/Harden means people can’t pack the paint and that’s great for Dwight.

The bad: I don’t know about the fit of everything. If it were me, I would have surrounded Dwight with as many role players as possible so that he was taking most of our shots and getting good passes and having help on the boards. Harden/Klay/Boozer are all going to need shots and only one of them can feed Dwight.

Overall: lots of talent. I think this is a playoff team.

Roster: Dwight Howard, James Harden, Klay Thompson, Al Horford, Carlos Boozer, Bo Outlaw, Kevin Johnson

Gerryred

The good: Great fit. You have scoring, passing, shooting, defense, rebounding...everything. I like the build, and I like KAJ/Drummond up front. You’ll have one of the best frountcourts in the league.

The bad: lots of one/two dimensional players. Danny Green, Kyle Korver and Dumars all only really do one or two things each and I think that will hurt the overall team.

Overall: I don’t think this is a playoff team. I really like the first three picks but I would’ve taken it in a different direction after that. I could be wrong though depending on what the post-draft additions look like.

Roster: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Andre Drummond, Deron Williams, Danny Green, Kyle Korver, Joe Dumars, Charlie Edge

mikee1

The good: you have my favorite round 6 picks out of everyone. Butler and McGee were both big parts of my title team last year. Rodman and Nash with your first two picks are a great foundation so long as you can get a decent wing scorer and big man later and I think you might have done that. You definitely got the hidden gem big man part down (Ewing/Reed/McGee) and you got one hidden gem wing scorer (Butler). Let’s see if it’s enough.

The bad: not enough usage in the first two rounds is tough. I feel you did about as good as you could’ve hoped for recovering with some good picks but let’s see if it’s enough.

Overall: I think you’re going to the playoffs.

Roster: Dennis Rodman, Steve Nash, Patrick Ewing, Derek Harper, Willis Reed, Jimmy Butler, JaVale McGee

cjok1051

The good: man...this offense is ridiculous. Rondo passing to Barkley, Marion and Amare?! Ray Allen there to keep defenses honest, as well. Pau late in the draft was good value too.

The bad: man...this defense is suspect. Barkley, Amare and Ray Allen are all holes and I’m only comfortable with one of those types of guys on my teams. Let’s see if your offense can win you games though.

Overall: playoffs.

Roster: Charles Barkley, Shawn Marion, Amar'e Stoudemire, Rajon Rondo, Ray Allen, Pau Gasol, Jon Barry

Tarheel1991

The good: Great value picks in Harrell and Sanders. I like Paul’s clean game offsetting some of the damage Kemp does. You can score from all 3 areas of the floor and will have a good team offense.

The bad: I like Kemp and I like Jokic...I don’t know if I like them together though. I know you said Jokic is coming off of the bench, which might work but personally I’m not sure if you can win a title with your 3rd pick coming off of the bench. I’d prefer him to be on the court in crunch time.

Overall: middle of the pack is what I’d say. Wouldn’t be surprised to see you make the playoffs but I don’t think it’s a lock.

Roster: Chris Paul, Shawn Kemp, Nikola Jokic, Clyde Drexler, Nicolas Batum, Montrezl Harrell, Larry Sanders

Me:

The good: Oscar in the 4th is good value and Noah and Ray in the frountcourt help make up for Penny and Oscar’s light assists. D Rob will have 3-4 people on the court at all times who can feed him and keep that eFG high. Having 3 medium usage guys with good eFG (Penny/Oscar/DRob) makes up for missing out on all the guys like Curry and Bron who score better and more than DRob.

The bad: Noah seemed desperate and can hurt your eFG. He went a little early and seemed to be taken in an attempt to up the passing. And no SF drafted until the last round so good luck with Marvin Williams...

Overall: I’ll be pretty happy to make the playoffs, tbh

Roster: David Robinson, Penny Hardaway, Joakim Noah, Oscar Robertson, Clifford Ray, Marvin Williams, Jordan Bell

Good stuff, dBKC! Keep it coming.

I like my team. I’m not making any predictions, bold or otherwise, but we’re efficient, we don’t turn the ball over, we rebound on O and D, and we don’t foul much. The only thing you could say about this team is our front court D is average, and we don’t get to the line that much (although our FT% will be high).

No idea how many games we win, but it’ll be a fun season. Excited to see what happens with Brandon/Kidd. Rare to get two high D passers on the same squad
