You got to remember I am 73.- Ty Cobb

Ty Cobb claimed (it;s actually a great story read it<a href="http://dev.baseballlibrary.com/ballplayers/player.php?name=Ty_Cobb_1886" target="_new"> here</a>) that pitching was so bad he could still have hit 300 in 1960. You know, at 73.

Well Ty, lets see.

I would like to see how the modern pitchers would do against old time hitters.

Here are the rules:
  • Pitchers must come from any ten period after 1969 (after they lowered the mound).
  • Batters must come from any ten year period before 1917 (when the dead ball was used).
  • 90 cap (to make the team;s competitive in the TOC)
  • NO DH
  • NO WW
  • NO AAA
  • Any Park
  • NO CLONE  (this has changed)
  • njuries off
  • Include your years in your team team

This is sort of similar to a piece of a theme league I'm cooking up between my ears. If it's slow to fill, I'm probably in. (Don't want to overextend my time.)  If it doesn't fill, perish the thought, maybe we can combine efforts. Please count me as an insurance maybe, teach.

But, Honus is my main honcho. No one else should get to employ him.

I was all in, and then I saw "clones." Not a clone fan and I think it defeats the purpose of the theme. With that said, I'll say maybe and may come back as the league fills.

3-4 versions of Ty Cobb vs a rotation of Tom Seaver, Tom Seaver, Tom Seaver and Tom Seaver, isn't as interesting to me as Cobb, Lajoie, and Shoeless Joe against Seaver, Sutton and Nolan Ryan. Just my preference. Not a fan of clones.
