My strategy was to take the Cards early and assume the Twins would be there to come back to late. This obviously didn't work, and I thought I'd be left with no good Deadball pitching if I didn't take the Twins early. I did not think I would close them out at 27
Since then I've had ok luck. I usually had a few plans per round, and while I've never got plan A, I've been able to get one of my fallbacks, unlike what contrarian describes.
I did nearly have the Cards fall into my lap at the end of Round 4. That would have been a lucky break, and I was a bit disappointed when it got close but didn't happen. That was the only time my wife noticed my reaction to missing out on a pick. But really I shouldn't have been expecting that much luck.
I'm kicking myself that I didn't wait until Round 6 to take the Orioles. It would have been nice to take 1937 for instance instead in Round 5. But the team already looks ok, so hopefully it won't hurt too much.
