The BOTTOM DUMP Tournament - V.2: Round SIX Topic

ROUND SIX

What we've got here are six of the most storied franchises in Major League Baseball since 1903.  Starting in 1903 and breaking it up into 28-year periods, there will be four choices for each of the six franchises listed.  The Cardinals, Dodger and Giants were pretty easy choices for the National League.  After the Yankees and Red Sox, I had to choose between the Athletics, Indians and Tigers for the third choice.  I went with the Tigers because they were the only franchise that I felt could field a competitive team from all four time-periods.

The draft order is determined by your W/L record in the previous round of the tournament.  The draft is pretty simple:  when it's your turn, you simply choose which 28-year time-frame (that's still available) from which franchise that you want..

ROSTER-BUILDING GUIDELINES:  You can't have any two players from the same year.  With 28 seasons to choose from, it shouldn't be too difficult to select players from 25 different seasons.

Here are some other items of interest:

NO: Clones – Not In This Round.
NO: Player Trades, Waiver Wire or A.A.A.
NO: Designated Hitter
NO: Injuries – They’ll Be Turned Off.
You may use either full or partial players seasons in this round.

CAP –$110

Stadium – For this round, we’re going to go with an even playing field - WHATIFSPORTS Park for Everyone!

The League will be set up like this:

The drafting of teams may now begin!

CONTRARIAN23 brought up a scenario that is bound to happen sometime during the draft and that is this:

Once 3 other owners (who aren't CONTRARIAN23) have picked teams in 1 division, that division is closed and he will automatically get the 4th team; though he doesn't have to choose THAT team necessarily with his next pick.  In other words, if he picks a Giants team with the #1 pick, and then the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th owners all pick a Yankees team...by default the 4th Yankees team is his - but he doesn't necessarily have to pick that team with his next pick...he can pick a Cards team or Tigers team or whatever and fill in the Yankees pick with one of his later slots.  To some, this may seem unfair but it really isn't.

Look at it this way:  Automatically getting the fourth selection in any division doesn't mean an automatic great team - even if it is a great franchise like the Yankees or Cardinals or whoever.  Matter of fact, it will surely be the least desirable selection in that division and the chances of that particular team advancing to the playoffs would be smaller than if he had the first, second or third choice in that division.

Also, an owner with six teams in a 24-team league MUST have a team in each division.  To have someone with two (or more) teams in any division is TOTALLY not good for the league.

I just wanted to put this out there before someone brings this up - and I'm sure someone would have brought it up eventually.  Rest assured, there's nothing shady going on here.

I still assume thst the other owners with multiple teams should be spread as much as possible. I hate playing myself so i will be in two seperate leagues . Is this mandatory or just sepsrate divisions. I could envision a scenerio wherre kt would come up depending on selections.

There are 4 owners who have multiple teams: contrarian23 with 6, CLWECW with 3, mllama54 and calhoop with 2 each.

I would think both mllama54 and calhoop would have 1 AL and 1 NL team.  CLWECW would have 2 teams in one league but different divisions and 1 team in the other league.  contrarian23 should have 1 team in each division.

Well, let's get this party started...I should probably take 2 days, build a team for all 24 scenarios and actually try to have some idea what I am doing...but I know right now, no matter how that turned out, that I would kick myself if I didn't take the 1903-30 Giants.

So that's my first choice.
