Montevallo's new coach made a scheduling error and filled his schedule before scheduling his Challenge game.  Guess we won't need the tiebreaker in season 67 since it will just be 11 games.
7/23/2013 2:54 PM
i think that should count as a forfeit, no?
7/23/2013 4:29 PM
nah just make it an 11 game series - he's a new coach, that's fair.
7/27/2013 10:09 PM
well i disagree completely but your tournament has been around long before me so whatever you guys decide is fine and i am not going to rock the boat... but it takes a game that would be won 99 times out of 100 by the CVAC and erases a point from us through no fault of our own.  there were plenty of warnings about scheduling and he even sent me a game request before he scheduled all his sims, so he wasn't that clueless about it.

not only does the cvac lose a point but one of their best teams (next year anyway) doesn't even get a chance to play and help their conference so it puts us squarely in a position where we have to eat both halves of the s**t sandwich for someone else's mistake.  more than anything im not in the yarnell or any other kind of tournament right now so i'm bummed to not get to play and just have to sit there and watch.

a little too serious about an imaginary tournament? probably.  but i think we can all admit it's a little more exciting than your average non-conference game.

Quite frankly, the mistake is on me, and I agree with bow. I'm going through a major rebuild at Montevallo and the chances the Heartland would of gotten a win are slim to none. I made a mistake, I should have to pay the price. I guess that means the rest of my conference mates do too, and thats something I'm willing to take the blame for
7/29/2013 2:47 AM
ok. if aperi agrees, I'm fine with it. definitely classy of you, man.
7/29/2013 8:04 AM
and for the record, i dont for a second think there was any malicious intent and aperi obviously seems like a pretty good guy.  he apologized to me profusely in an email after this happened.
7/29/2013 12:44 PM

CVAC 1, Heartland 0.  Guess the Heartland will have to make up for that one elsewhere.  Sorry you have to sit this one out bow.

bbunch and mduncanhogs, since you guys seem like the unofficial, official conference reps for this tournament........any thoughts on one of the heartland teams that finished near Montevallo last year playing a 2nd challenge game next season one of their open weeks?  that way the point is still up for grabs. i honestly don't care what the team is, i'd rather play the game even if we end up losing than just sitting out and having it be a forfeit. just like a no contest, that's not really fun for anybody
7/29/2013 7:22 PM
I think this game should have been on next years schedule, so I believe it is still 0-0 for this years matchup. I'm fine with whatever ever you guess decide, but I think the best options are to declare the game a forfeit and the CVAC takes the win or you guys could try to schedule an exhibition game next season and count that as the challenge game. I'm cool with what ever. Hopefully in the end it doesn't end up being a deciding factor.
7/29/2013 8:10 PM
bow, I certainly understand you not wanting to sit it out.  bentilie actually has a very good idea.  Why don't you and aperi schedule your game during the 2nd exhibition game next season and we will count that one as part of the Challenge?  Would you rather do that or schedule a different Heartland opponent for next season that still has an opneing?

And yes bentlie, this is for the Season 67 Challenge, not this season.
