You're assuming he knows how to bunt and can execute it properly when they're pitching him the absolutely worst location possible for hijm to do so.

Face it, taking the bat out of his hands in a 1 run game is stupid.  Admit it and move on.
You're also assuming he's getting pitched in the same spot all the time.  If the slugger knew the pitch would be on the inside corner, he'd be crushing the ball most of the time.
OK, let me edit this for you, sorry:

They don't ALWAYS go inside - a guy who is getting the extreme overshift is there because he tries to pull everything anyhow.  But they are going to avoid the middle of the plate like the plague, and that outside corner breaking ball isn't exactly a charm to bunt fair even if it does lead you in the right direction.

Since when is a cutter a "breaking ball"?
6/28/2013 8:33 AM
Do you consider it a fastball?  Does it not break intentionally?
6/28/2013 8:45 AM
It cuts - I wouldn't consider that a "break". Hence the term "cut fastball".

I guess you've never seen it.   Here you go:

You're welcome.

Cut FASTBALL.

You're welcome.

So a ball that "cuts" about 18-24 inches doesn't actually "break".     Got it.

Show me any pitch with 2 feet of horizontal break. That's pretty nasty.

Not even close to two feet as discussed in the other thread.
6/28/2013 10:06 AM
I disagree.   Those pitches are 8-10 inches inside when the batter swings.
6/28/2013 10:09 AM
Which means they started out middle of the plate or outer half?
6/28/2013 10:22 AM
Inner third as I said.
6/28/2013 10:24 AM
The plate's 17 inches wide, which makes means the inner third is just under 6 inches wide.  So at least you've moved back to 14-16 inches.
