D2 Season 65 Topic

Well I am new to DII in Iba. I coach Florida Gulf Coast in the Southern Conference. I am trying an interesting method. I am running triangle and zone. I will use 9 of my scholarships and save three for extra money. There will be three in each class and one class that is empty. My first season recruiting was good. I didn't get a scorer like I wanted but I couldn't do a ton with a C prestige team.
My favorite player out of this class is right out of my backyard (Fort Myers, FL) Michael Hart http://www.whatifsports.com/hd/RecruitProfile/Ratings.aspx?rid=2705939 . He is going to be a really athletic defender and should fit pretty good in the zone. Michael will probably start this year due to the terrible posts we already have.
The second recruit is also out of Fort Myers. He is a post player that I jumped in on and beat out another local coach for the second day of recruiting. His name is Jerry Balling http://www.whatifsports.com/hd/RecruitProfile/Ratings.aspx?rid=2705125 . Jerry will be hopefully be able to develop to at least the 50's or 60's in LP. He will be a great rebounder and a really good athlete.
My last recruit is from Chatsworth, GA. He will hopefully develop into a good shooting guard. The last recruit is named Herbert Yost http://www.whatifsports.com/hd/RecruitProfile/Ratings.aspx?rid=2706787 . He will be a pretty balanced player.

Interesting idea...I hope it works out well for you!

So no games tonight?

Good start for us at Longwood - again, if we can find consistent scoring, we will be hard to stop, because other than Parkside, we probably have one of the best defensive teams in DII. We're just not good lately about recruiting top-notch scorers.

Grand Canyon could have quite a year - and it goes without saying that Parkside is the frontrunner.

Love when you do these kinds of posts bbunch, it's part of the reason I've stuck to D2.

I can only speak to my conference (N-10) but I'll be predicting Assumption to win it and Franklin Pierce to make it as a 4th entry to the NT.

Thanks, Cregen. I would have posted my bubble teams that got in, and bubble teams that didn't, but had a formatting issue when copying it from  word.

Franklin Pierce was one of  the last ones out in my prediction IIRC. I had them completely on the bubble.

sorry bowz - i think you have a shot as well, but your team is just super-young. Good luck though - hope I provided motivation for your squad.

I had you on the bubble. You have some talent there but the youth could hurt.

updated with seedings included. Check above. I'm curious to see how accurate these are.

(...of course, this is what I do with my newfound free time in the summer)
6/11/2013 6:50 PM
cheers bbunch. i'll take a #11 with some favourable matchups
6/11/2013 7:29 PM
No need to apologize bbunch...im acutely aware that we only have 2 upper classmen.

The one fun thing about young teams is just how much they improve over a season and what a different team they are by the end of the season compared to the beginning
