So if you trade for a stud in his walk year, you won't get a loyalty bonus when you offer him a max contract the following season, since he was only with your squad for 1 season?

Does the rating "patience" play into this or is that just for arb players?

Correct.

EDIT - but there is a *chance* depending on his ratings that he might be willing to sign an extension with you before going FA.

Update: Egan re-signed for the max, I led the entire way and am aware that more than a few others offered him the max as well. Obviously doesn't "prove" anything, but maybe that full loyalty bonus does weigh a lot.

Hitter re-signing for one of the best hitter parks as well...If you had a pitchers park you might have lost him to Colorado.
