Little League practice will soon be starting up here in my area, giving rise to fond memories of rubber cleats, dirt & rock fields, copying the Yaz batting stance, and  trips for ice cream after a win.

This league will hearken back to those days with players from the seasons you turned 9, 10, 11 & 12.  For me that's 1965, 1966, 1967 & 1968.  All players on your roster must be from your 4 Little League seasons - no minimums/maximums per year.

When signing up, list your Little League years... alignment will be chronological - earliest teams in the NL East and so on... extra points for Little League or hometown team names.

$120M Salary Cap
24 teams
Yes - DH
No - AAA, WW, trades, clones, injuries or live play

does it have to be 4 years? I started at age6 (1959) in the CYO league, played every season until i graduated, 1967. I didn't play "Little League." I went to a parochial school, which there was no shortage of in Brooklyn, N.Y. The Catholic schools had their own leagues. We were placed according to what grade we were in, not by our age, and occasionally pushed up or down depending on our ability. It wasn't out of the question to be placed on two or three teams. The local bookies often encouraged betting on our games, and woe be unto your little tail if you cost your father his bet with an error or whiff in a crucial spot.

The league I played in (greater Seattle area) started at age 9 with 4 levels - C, B, AA & Majors.  I started at 10 in the B league and played AA at 11 & 12.  The majors was a more elite group - Floyd Bannister played on a rival team.

pfattkatt, did you want to join?

I think so. I was curious if we were limited to 4 seasons, which is not a deal breaker to me if we are. I caught John Candelaria four seasons, 2 or 3 teams in each. He was a better basketball player than baseball, not that he was a slouch on the mound. He didn't like school, and he would have had to go to college to hoop. He took $50k from the Pirates, bought his mom a house on Staten island, and the rest is public knowledge. I started catching because I was fat, but I got in shape as i grew up. I found playing other positions boring, so I stayed behind the plate.
Our levels, beginning in 1st grade, were called clinic, bantam, grass hopper, and grammar. Parochial schools went 1st to 8th grade.

finn2030, i would love to play but i'm a little overcommitted at the moment. if that changes, i'll come back and see where you are. One question, is T-ball considered little league? I played t-ball from when I was seven (in 1976) and then played Little League Minors (something like 9 and 10 year olds, I think) then LL Majors (11 and 12), then "big league" (13 and 14 up to 18, i think). Those were the days. My mom used to yell that she'd buy me a sundae if I hit a home run. When I was 13 and i began to play on regulation fields, that was a whole lot of yard to cover! Also, I was a 3B and could hardly make the throw across to first. Man, I love baseball and playing the game in Italy when I was a kid was a great way to keep in touch with my "Americanness." Sigh.
