pitching staff mess Topic

Can I make this staff work? Or do I need to trade for a new pitcher immediately? Not sure if my team is even deep enough to give up a worthy position player. My team is a mess, and I'm new, so all advice is welcome.

Yes that staff is a mess.  Look at teams that have won in the past and there pitchers to see what makes a good pitcher. I see maybe 5 guys in that group id consider using myself.  Or just tank and get draft position.

Who should I trade to get? Should I just be focusing on starters? Super screwed here

thanks for the advice.

Need help with knowing what ratings are acceptable for each type of pitcher.

It varies in each world but see winning teams pitchers to get an idea on what ratings are important.  Like control, vr, pitches.   an example is i personally wouldnt use a pitcher with no pitch above 70.  Or a pitcher with 60vr.  Of course there are exceptions.   Look at ppl who win and copy that method.  Dont get to hung up on stamina or durability or overall ratings.  There may be fa's available to help or guys on the waiver wire.

Barfield, jones, abreu, leaonard, duckworth and lee are the only ones id consider using.  Imo

what about tarranga?
I wouldnt unless he gets an unexpected ratings bump in control and vr

vr?

Could you also explain why a pitcher might have decent vs L and R stats, as well as control and velocity, but bad individual pitch stats?

Versus right handed batters.

Dont concern yourself with the rating of each pitch.  If one or more is above 70 then you will see a correlation with success.  Again look at successful pitchers in your world and it will help you evaluate a pitcher better.   Look at whip more then era.  There are to many other variables that effect era.

#1 junk
#2 better then you have
#3 really really really bad.

Again look at winning teams in your world and there pitchers who preform good and then look at there ratings.  You will see What makes a good pitcher.

This guy doesn't seem bad: http://whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/PlayerProfile.aspx?pid=2181867, but it also says he's a type A free agent. Worth it? Or probably not since I'm going to need my draft picks (already signed 2 type a free agents, but since I have the 3rd overall pick, I'm going to have to give up my 3nd and 3rd ronuders).

Just what makes the 1st and 3rd guy from before such junk. The first guy has decent ratings, except his individual pitching ratings, and the other guy has really individual pitch ratings, but subpar other ratings no? This is why I'm confused.
