I honestly could care less what you think biz.  Fact is that Brady has the stats that say he's one of the best of all time and he has the Rings and MVP's.

Anyone with a brain notices that Brady is great.  Ones that don't obviously hold a grudge with him or are just stupid.

That poll  conducted by "Sporting News" is a joke.  It's 2 guys that said he was the most overrated player in the NFL.  It's more than likely 2 guys that Brady has dominated (Suggs and probably that other idiot James Harrison). Wow...Bleacher Report thinks Brady is overrated.  It must be so!

You're just dismissing the facts out of hand because you don't want to have to deal with them.

FACT: I'm not the only person who thinks Brady is over-rated.

FACT: There are NFL players who think Brady is over-rated.

But none of that matters, according to you, because anyone who disagrees with the idea that Brady is an NFL god is absolutely wrong and must have some hidden reason for pointing out his flaws when everyone knows you're not allowed to point out the failures of Brady or you will be ridiculed. *rolls eyes*

It can't be that Brady has made mistakes or failed to perform in the clutch or done anything wrong, ever.

After all, he's the only QB in the history of the NFL to win the Super Bowl every season he ever played in the NFL (and man, didn't he dominate the Eli Manning led Giants more than once?)

And he's the only QB who has never thrown an interception unless the wideout did something to screw him over or there was a freak tip somewhere.

And he has thrown for NFL records when he had pee wee players for receivers. For real - that's how awesome he is.

Let us all drink the wonderful flavored Brady kool-aid together! Wheeeee!

To be honest, up until 2007, you could argue that Brady was just barely above average.   He averaged about 3600 yards, 25 TD and 13 INT.   That's nothing special at all.   It's kind of Phillip Rivers-y.

biz -

Still haven't told me how Brady was carried for 3 Super Bowl wins.  His o-line was poor to average for his first 2 wins.  Even worse than I thought.  Or do you just want to ignore pre-2007?

Brady's worst season was his 1st, which makes sense.  After that, up until 2007, he was very consistent.  Let's look at the year I think closely resembles the stats youre mentioning, 2006.

3529 yards - 7th
24 TDs - T-4th

Barely above average? Are there 15 QBs in the league?

And again, I'll argue the weapons he had did not compare to other great QBs.  When he got similar weapons, he put up great stats, and not just "slightly above average" ones.

Meh.  2006.   Team average of 3276 yds, 20.3 TD.   Brady was just barely above average.   Nothing special at all.

It's entirely possible he just became a better QB.   It's not really that unusual for a QB to peak at 27-30.   He's smarter, he's learned the game and he sees things better.

Up until recently, Rivers was talked about being in the top 5 QB.  (during the early-mid 2000's).

So you want your boy to be top 5 and not top 1-2?

I guess this means you think 2/3 to 3/4 of QBs in the league are just barely above or below average?  He finished 7th and 4th in the 2 categories you gave.  He's also led the league in yardage and TDs in a season pre 2007.

Not by anyone not related to him.  The top 5 for a long time now have been Brady, Manning, Brees, Rodgers, and occasionally flashes of Rapeslisberger/Eli.  Philip Rivers has more been lumped with the Tony Romo, Jay Cutler level of performer.

To be fair, I'd put Rivers in the "flashes of Rapeslisberger/Eli" category more than he's like Cutler.

Different argument, though.

Why?  Rapeslisberger and Eli have won two Super Bowls..... EACH.

Rivers has won as many as I have.
1/17/2013 5:16 PM
That's true. I'd definitely trust Eli and Ben much more in big game situations, but Rivers did put up great numbers.  He might be a step below those 2, but I think he's closer to them than he is to Cutler.
