Beyond that, I can't really put one guy ahead of another. Ruth edges Mays because his offense revolutionized the sport, and because he pitched. Mays is NOT far behind him in my book because his defense was so spectacular. Aaron almost never gets enough love in these types of discussions, and I think he deserves to be 3rd. Bonds gets 4th because (although the stats are amazing) there is that cloud over him that will (sadly) never go away. Mantle above Teddy Ballgame because defense has to matter on some level.
7-10 could be a mix of guys like Cobb, Hornsby, Gehrig.....
