What dahs said.

Plus, when you say your statements are "accepted by other people and are generally viewed as valid opinions", you're failing to acknowledge that many of the people you're referring to share your right-wing fringe opinions, not necessarily by the general public.

I'm sure that if there were a gathering of serial killers, Ted Bundy would have been accepted and understood by all the other attendees as a regular guy, "just like us".
The Author that I mentioned from the Bill Maher show is a radical left winger. And I didnt quote him. I made my opinions known and after being blasted heard another person agreeing with me.

And what is your point, that serial killers may think alike.

So when noted authors agree with me does that mean we think alike?

Always think your analogies through before running with them.

Not that any of that makes swamp less of a dumbass but I'm saying the systematic destruction of the Native American was not US policy.
Do you think it was an accident?

Are you familiar with "history"?

Systematic destruction was the policy post Washington until  at least the Turner Thesis.
There was no systematic destruction of the Native American.

If they were on land that the US wanted, they moved them, if possible, killed them, if not.

Much like old people today, the US simply wanted them out of sight.   There would have been no Trail of Tears if they were to be eliminated.

Are you familiar with "history"?
That's a pretty narrow definition of destruction.

And comparing 19th century treatment of Native Americans  to 21st century treatment of the elderly is simply ridiculous.

I think the Siox would have like Medicare, voting rights, a pension system and a powerful lobby.
2/6/2013 7:33 PM
It wasn't a comparison.  It was a comment on how we treat the elderly.

If the gov't came knocking on my door, said "We've bought this land, you gots to go!" and I didn't, I expect I'd be forcible removed.  If I responded with force, I expect I'd be eliminated.     Genocide of the T23s?

Yeah, thought so.   The govt has been forcing people to move forever.    It's not genocide.

This is my dilemma.

I make statements that are accepted by other people and are generally viewed as valid opinions. Not that everyone agrees with them, but they are out there.

When I say them I am an idiot.

When others say them they are authors that people put on tv.

How can this be?
This is my dilemma.

I have no idea what you watched.    I do know you said AW was less dangerous because you don't have to aim.

That's what makes you an idiot.

If you had said "An AW is less dangerous than a handgun in tight, confined spaces", you can at least make an argument.  You can't exactly spray bullets all over a NYC subway car at 5 PM with an AW because you can't manuever it.   But you didn't go that route.   You went the "you don't have to aim" route.

Isn't it true that what makes swamp an idiot goes way beyond just that one statement?

He wanted to know about this specific incident.

My point was that if you shoot a bunch of bullets and are not focused you may hit people and not kill them.

The point was that you can find a scenario where the AWs are not as dangerous as another type of weapon.

The AW ban side is showing almost nothing. They talk in broad general terms about less threat in certain scenarios, but have not backed it up.

It still feels like the side that wants to ban AWs are considered right and you have to prove they are wrong.

For ****'s sake.

Wouldn't it be better to not allow someone to shoot, but not kill, a bunch of people?

Go over to the gun control side, you're ******* things up for the 2nd Amendment people.

I think it's pretty obvious that civilians are at least marginally safer if assault weapons are banned.  The argument of people who oppose the ban is that it's not a significant enough improvement in safety to justify the ban.  Only idiots would try to argue that the general population is actually safer with assault weapons being legal.  It's one thing for an individual to say "I want an assault weapon to protect myself, that makes me feel safer."  Even people who say that will often admit that society as a whole would be safer without automatic weapons in the hands of civilians.  But again, you'd have to be an idiot to try to convince everyone that an assault weapon ban would be bad because people would be less safe in mass killings carried out with small arms and hunting weapons than military or military-grade assault weapons.  You are trying to make that argument.  Hence, you are an idiot.
