Lesson of the day, don't count on anything good being left by the middle of the 6th round.

"Kermit Washington and Ersan Illyasova. There was a much cleaner big with better offensive rebounding available that would have worked better with Ewing IMO. Ersan is a great pick. I mean 45% from 3, about 33 CREB%, 53 EFG% and low negative numbers per 48 MPG. This team is unique and could make a playoff push." Vance, I know who you mean and i considered him. However i decided to go with Kermit who gets very little play in the sim and he will pass out more than a few hard fouls while watching Ewings back.

"Normally at this point Miller would be a great pick. I dislike it because another SG was available with some of the same qualities but with much better defense, rebounding and usage"

yea he would have been a great fit...but im tired of using him and ive never had reggie on a draft team...reggie is a much better odl player but im hoping his awesome offense should outweigh his awful defense

"Mark Price and Anderson Varejao. Price has one good season that fits behind Frazier and Mullin. If you use the 35MPG version of Mullin with the 57 EFG%. Price has good usage, very good assists and 3's, is the best of the lot that filed the need. Varejao has a 12 MPG season that I really like. His most expensive season has about 29 CREB% and that doesn't help this team much. I liked a couple of much better rebounders with less defense for this pick."

Yeah, that's definitely the Mullin season I'm using. You mentioned the 57% efg, but don't forget that he shoots free throws at almost 89% (and a bunch of them, too, although he of course won't reach his RL totals).

I assume you're thinking of the right Price season, which has 54% efg, 24% usg, and 28% ast. Not to mention 95% from the line. Overall this will be the best FT shooting team I can remember having - should shoot over 80% as a team. Could go even higher depending on which Frazier I use, but I think I'm using the 20% usage, 54% efg, 21% ast Frazier (at a measly 75% from the line).

I'm using 11-12 Varejao. I like him better than some 1500 or so minute guys remaining. I'll make up the rest w/ undrafted guys.

I disagree about Melo vance. I have a pretty large list of SFs and PGs that will fit my teams needs. Only one guy though with the usage, rebounding, and position flexibility I was looking for. That's Melo.
Plus he's a Baltimore boy and one of my favorite players.

And DH, Miller was awesome for me last season. His D didn't stop us from reaching the finals.

like this team's efficiency, low fouls, low t.o.'s and fta's (3200+) but just 4535 drebs and 1285 orebs. could use a bit more in those areas. however, we shoot approximately 43% from the arc with 402 made. hope that will be enough. pretty good starting def: 90, 74, 60, 90, 74

My theory is that one can actually maximize Gilert by surrounding him with enough ast% and another player with a higher usage%. Plus you need low tov% and high 3fg% from other players and an ave D over 70. Gilbert will foul a ton, but I expect to's for both him and Wade to be lower than normal in the sim because they should avoid the individual usage penalty. I also think Gilbert will have a higher efg% than RL because he should hit upwards of 250 triples. When they are both on this team will score 130+ points, when they are both off it will be ugly, if one of them is on it will be tight. Should be a playoff team depending on the random divisions, and will be fun to watch win or lose.

I like seeing Gilbert picked. Had fun watching him when he was a Wizard. When he got hot , he put up points in bunches.

I've been following nate's team because... well I find nate's teams to be interesting. I hope it works out, but I think adding Arenas to D. Wade's team  may be about as good an idea as adding Bea Arthur to the Star Wars Christmas Special.
12/12/2012 11:51 AM
Ha nate I've told you I want to try Gilbert in the ODL, but I don't think he's a great option in this league due to high negatives and not great efficiency. Not sure wwhat the idea is w/ the Gilbert and DWade pairing, but it seems like a bad idea on paper. Kudos to you if you can pull it off.
12/12/2012 1:48 PM
I will say that after putting together the seasons I think you'll be using, it looks better than I thought, nate. Even w/ Nater you have plenty of D on the team, helped by the position flexibility of Mason, Marshall, and Millsap (the three M's!). I still think it's not efficient enough for this league, and Gilbert and DWade may shoot you out of some games, but it could work.
12/12/2012 1:55 PM
Thanks tar, ave D is 72.2 with Nater and 83 for 18 minutes of Millsap. Will be an interesting squad and it will either verify or disprove some of my assumptions about the sim.
