I'll admit that I really didn't see much of him in college, but I do know he was one of the best QB's in the country, if not the best, his Senior year, including being better than Luck.  Probably not better than Griffin.

I'll inform you.   He was a nobody at NC State.   One of the biggest surprises in college football at WI.   I forget what happened to their starter but he specifically went there because they had everything but a QB.

Yeah, and he played like a ******* super-star... which is why it's odd to imply that he was just a game manager in college.  Or maybe that wasn't your implication...

And it isn't like the Wisconsin system generates inflated QB numbers...

15th in NCAA history in TD passes.

I'll ask again.   Are you just ignoring his first three college seasons?

I don't understand how those would be terribly important. Pretty sure QB's generally develop over their college careers. And, as I said before, those years, with a mediocre at best team behind him were not exactly bad. They just weren't great.

Do you think that those seasons say more about what he is today as a professional QB than his senior season does?

Meh.  You have his college career to look at also.    He's basically been the same guy his entire trackable career.    I don't think we're looking at an elite passer.   But he's a pretty damn good football player.
This.

I guess I'm not understanding your point, there.
I think you are saying he can't be an elite passer (whatever elite is). His senior season in college would say he absolutely was an elite passer.
His professional career hasn't given the opportunity to see if he can consistently be that because his offense doesn't run that way.
I think he could be, but I don't think the Seahawks would be a better team if he/they tried, as they are currently constructed.

I love college football.   Watch more of it than pro.   But, due to the nature of the game, you can't always get a feel for a player by looking at his single season stats.    In the pros, they set the schedule and the difference between 1 and 32 isn't that much anyway.   In college, they schedule some of their own games and you can get some dogass mismatches.   I don't know if Wilson put up numbers against Ohio State or Youngstown State.

Anyway, I'm not the enemy here.  I said pay the man.  I said he's top 1/3 in the NFL.   And I've said he plays exactly how SEA needs him to.   I just don't think he could stand in the pocket and pick teams apart like a Manning/Brady/Brees.    But he doesn't have to.

Fair enough.

Looks like he had a bit of a mixture.  Definitely shredded South Dakota.

He was a nobody that led the ACC in passing TDs 3 times. He was nobody that was recruited by not only Wisconsin, but also defending National Champion Auburn.

Senior season, he had the best single season passing efficiency rating since records were kept.
