Season 60 recruiting: Salem St.
Hot off the Championship game loss to NAC South division rival Thomas, the Vikings enter the recruiting season with 6 open scholarships and around $27,000 in recruiting budget. After scouting the surrounding area and running some evals on numerous potential recruits to locate the cream of the crop we settled on our 6 and, after knocking a few other schools off, secured our class of 6 incoming freshman. Of course, about a day before signings I noticed that I almost messed up due to the class limits again. I redshirted a kid named Hillman last season. He, of course, counts as a freshman, and would have menat we wouldn't have signed one of the six. Luckily, after learning a brutal lesson in Phelan (lost a 5 star center at D I Colorado) this time I was paying attention, eventually, and had to cut Hillman to make room for the freshman, all of whom will be better than him.
Having a 7th opening now (but still with over 7k in the bank) I went looking for transfers or jucos and found a transfer from D I HIgh Point just released the previous cycle. He has a 9 WE which I expect was his undoing at D I. Here at Salem St we don't really care if he's lazy, his skills are among the best on the team already. Naturally we jumped on him immediately, but so did Illinois College (D III, not the Illini as I briefly thought). Since signings had begun and I didn't feel like slowplaying it, I sent the kid 5 CVs (he's from Virginia), guessing that would do the trick. It did. We took clear lead at 11 and he signed at 2 as expected.
I'll post his current stats and then the minimum projected stats for the 6 freshman.
