We are on the rise again.  Let the boasting begin!

I'd boast but we're gonna graduate about 5 sim-recruited kids and get our butts handed to us next season,,, so I may wait until about March or April to start braggin and pokin fun at those lesser (Non-NAC type) programs beneath our hoofs (Mustang talk there).

So you're saying that I might have a shot to beat you a few times before you get Ida on track?

            Season #47 Predictions....

     North Division            W  -  L                South Division      W  -  L

#1.  Castleton St.           15 -   1         #1.  Thomas               13 -  3
  2.   Lasell                       12 -  4           1T. MMA                      13 -  3
  3.   Elms                          9 -   7            3.  Farmington            8 -  8
  4.   J. State                       7 -  9            4.  Presque Isle          6 - 10
  5.   Becker                       4 - 12            5.  Mt Ida                      5 - 11
  6.   Husson                     3 - 13            6.  Salem State          1 - 15

Castleton State - I don't see alot of drop-off as RDB just reloads the gun and continues to roll.  He returns 9 players, has 6 (quality) upperclassmen, and returns 4-5 guys who averaged 10+ PPG last season. His overall record will be determined by the first 10 games, but I just don't see him losing but one random game in the conference this season (if that).

Lasell - gets my vote for #2 in the North. They only lose one player from a NT team last season that went 11-5, they return 8 upperclassmen, and a very solid first 5 that put up about 65 pts by themselves last year and I wouldn't expect them to be anything but better, so I think they will improve at least one win. They are not in Castleton State's class right now but they might be that one loss looming out there.

Elms - gets my vote for 3rd at 9-7. They only have one senior, but still have a nice core of players and also went for a couple jucos so it appears the mission is to win now... not later. With 8 upperclassmen next season, they might begin ( return ) to being a force to be respected in the North very soon.

Johnson State - appears to be the wild-card in the North (again) this season. I put them 4th at 7-9, but they could just as ez end up 10-6 or better. 8 upperclassmen return from a 10-6 team and they bring back alot of scoring.... I just can't root for a sim coached team to beat humans.

I'd like to welcome NZ00 to Becker - I don't really expect awesome things from NZ his first season, as he graduated 6 kids from a sim coached team. However, from the early looks of his recruits he should have Becker up and playing respectable again in just a couple seasons. Becker and Husson "should" battle for 5-6th place in the North this season. and I give the nod to Becker on the shoulders of the 5 SR's they return.

I'd also like to welcome Jammer to the NAC at Husson - It truely pains me to list Husson last in any poll, in any world... as I have 3 Titles with Husson in 3 different worlds, and they are without a doubt my favorite DIII team to coach in HD.... Had (newmoon) not allready reserved / taken them last season, I would be struggling up in Bangor to right the ship instead of Jammer.... Husson returns 10 kids, but only 2 are seniors and 2 jr's... so I would have to expect them to struggle again this season, but hopefully improve a game or two from the 1-15 of last season.

I actually have all six of Becker's recruits.  I don't really have the Sim AI recruits, they were mostly in the upper midwest and pacific coast which I as a rule avoid scouting.

So here is all of Thomas and Becker, the "missing" recruit for Castleton, MMA's single recruit, and one of UMPI's.

South Division projections.

#1 Thomas - KuJ gets this position by default since he has earned it... I will leave Thomas as the team to beat in the South until someone actually does it.... until that time everything else is just wishfull thinking. On paper this does look like the season for someone to sneak in on them. With only 3 or so upperclassmen, and 5 new faces on the bench... the talent / experience pool for Thomas should be as low as it has been for several seasons. I still say they win 12 - 13 games in conference. (13-3).

#1 Tie - MMA - On paper it appears that MMA is going to take over the top spot in the South this season. But until the dust clears... probably after the CT ends... I just can't crown MMA and coach Jazz the kings of the South until I see it with my own eyes.  MMA has 9 upperclassmen and Thomas has only 3. They were 12-4 last season. I really expect to see some great things from MMA the next 2 seasons.... but KuJ has the experience and could be the best regular season coach in Allen DIII. So until I see it.... I won't believe it.... I give MMA the same (13-3) record I gave Thomas... and a #2 seed in the CT.

#3. and then there's the rest of us... Farmington - Coach Floyd has 5 sr's and that alone may be enough to wrestle home 3rd place in the South. He is actually a season behind Mt Ida (sort of), in building the new generation of Farmington... but he is ahead of Ida this season because he still has some average talented sr's left and Ida's have all gone on to their future careers of washing cars and mowing lawns.... I think Floyd improves a game or two in conference and ends around .500, so (8-8) looks about right to me.

#4 UMPI - has 7 upperclassmen and gets the nod over Ida for the 4th spot in the south. I don't see alot of future here but 5 sr's will allow them to beat most of the sims and a couple of humans along the way to a (6-10) season or so.

#5. Mt Ida - we suck, but we have promise... and that's all I ask at this point. We landed 2 1/2 decent players last season.... and again this season it appears we have 2 very nice kids and a decent role player.... That adds up to about 5 players, all who are soph or frosh... with only 2 upperclassmen, Mt Ida will be getting better as the season progresses, however, we will lose alot of games and be very frustrating to watch for another season and a half at least.... But there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Due to the fact that I really want this team coached with my Mizzou77 account I won't be re-upping and thus can not RS anyone,,, I don't want the rebuild to go any further, for fear someone else might take the team while I am trying to switch accounts...So hopefully next season we can truely begin in earnest the task of making the Mt Ida Mustangs a force in the NAC... the foundation has been laid.... now the building begins... (5-11)

#6. Salem State is pretty bad... I don't see alot of hope here... but they will probably win one or two games like last season... just because.... (1-15).

Recruiting review will be done by position that the player is listed at.
I have a simple formula that I use to rate players and that will be what I use for this.
I feel it helps to keep my personal feelings out a little bit more.
Juco and transfer kids will be mentioned, but the main focus will be on freshman.

PG                     School         Score      10 G.   Mins.   Pts    Ast.
#1. Edgar   -    Thomas         484          +19       60      11      4
 2.  Royce -      Castle St.       480          +13     158     53     21
 3.  Stephenson - Lasell        471         +12     115      32     14
 4.  Meikle    -     Husson         431          +20       47       7       1
 5. Woods  -     Mt. Ida            430          +14     145     19      23
 6. Palombo  - Becker            427          +18     176     33     24
 7. Gideon  -     Becker           425           +23    149     28     21
                                                     Oliver     +27    131       9      19

Oliver @ Elms is the best overall PG in the class, scoring a 497, however, being a juco and only having 2 seasons he will be able to only get those F IQ's into the B- range by end of next season... and thus never reach true "Stud" territory. Had he been a freshman @574 he would have been playing DII this season instead of playing with us.... it will be interesting to see how much he can contribute still, and that stellar (91) WE, should make him giddy-up pretty quickly.

Shooting Guard review.

Only had 4 1/2 recruited but a couple gems.

                                                        Rating  Min     Pts   Ast
#1. Cuyler  -  Thomas    -  503     +14    103      78       6
 2.  Howard  -  MMA         -  404     +12     93         7      11
 3.  Stephens - Becker   -  400      +33   180      55        9
 4.  Lyon  -  Farmington  -  395      +13   148      35        8
                                      Owens         +13   230    140      24

Owens scores a 420 for Farmington as a SR and is by far the most ready to play.
Culyer wins the SG hands down but Stephens is not as far behind as the score reflects. Stephens has a very nice WE and has high potential in LP, which will make him round out into a very nice player his last 2 seasons...Howard's lack of Ath may hold him back slightly behind Stephens but his PE and Passing should be much better, however, the potential for Cuyler (Cooler), (since that's what he'll be by his jr and sr seasons) is the "Cooler", should develop top notch Ath/Spd and his 90+ PE and 90+ BH will make him a dominating scorer. Given the chance to shoot enough... even on Thomas' well balanced teams, this kid could join the top-15 scorers in Thomas history... (`1338 Pts is the target).
2/9/2011 2:47 PM (edited)
SF saw the NAC bring in 3 more players that should finish at 635 or higher overall and a couple more that should be in the 550-600 range. So 5 pretty nice players at the 3 spot overall.

                                                                            Min   Pts   Rb  Ast
#1.  Hagen  -  Thomas     -    499        + 8        -     RS    -       -
 2.   Goins  -  Castle St     -    445        +10       -     RS    -       -
 3.   Nieves  -  Mt Ida         -     415       +18    112    39    9    13
 4.  Morris  -  Salem St     -      365       +11      80    14    3      2
 5.  Schaffer - Farmington -    325       +14      52      5     2     1

Hagen's Ath and Def, as well as having a guard set of BH/PA skills, makes him hands down the winner in the SF reviews...  Goins has great potential in RB, and should play good Def, and be a decent scorer. Nieves is the pure shooter of the bunch, and probably the second best outside shooter of the class only behind "Cooler", he will probably play the 2 spot most of his career, but his low Stam will keep him from really being as dominate as he could be. Morris has alot of high potentials, but his beginning cores are just so low he will spend alot of his career growing into them.
2/9/2011 2:57 PM (edited)
It appears that PF's in the NAC are about as scarce as the Rocky Mountain Spotted Owl, so no-one open any champagne around these two.

                                                                      Min   Pts  Rb
#1. Pressman - Husson  - 395    +19    138    9    33
 2.  Radke        -  Becker   -  375    +13      61    6    10

Pressman "could" finish around 600+ and therefore be a pretty nice post player... hard to say if he will have time to develop all those areas that aren't core skills to round out into what he really could be. Probably a good canidate for a RS. Radke looks like a 550+ player to me, his numbers are nearly identical to Pressmans' but he doesn't have the speed and LP potential, only time will tell which of these will develop into their full potential. Pressman "should" have the ability to add several additional points to his average over his career from the charity stripe also... good quickness and decent ath for a big with real nice FT% potential = "good things"
2/9/2011 2:59 PM (edited)
Sorry for the delay on Centers, but with 11 and several of them being very good I wanted to wait until I had some time to look them over well.

                                                                         Min     Pts    Rb
#1. Jost         -   Thomas   -  450     +18     155     20    35
 2.  Palmer    -   Mt Ida       -  430      +18     174    42    37
 3.  Sims       -    Thomas  -  425      +21     139    16    26
 4. McCandles - Cast. St  -  422      +27     119    10    32
 5. Robinson -   Becker    -  410       +17     125    21    32
 6. Tardy       -     Elms       -  400        + 4     146      6     57
 7. Smith      -     Becker    -  390        + 9        -       RS     -

McCandles with his 84 WE could very well be the best of the bunch. Sims and Jost should allmost look like twins in their ratings when they finish, Jost just looks to be a little better rounded when he's fully cooked than Sims to me... either could probably start for any DIII team in Allen by their jr season... so I don't think KuJ cares which one is better... they will be awesome together. Palmer will probably end up being one of the top 2-3 overall rated players from this class and "should" be a very nice big-man for Ida when he grows up. Robinson and Smith @ Becker don't have the Ath/spd, and Def of these others, but they should more than make up for it in their RB and LP which should be first class. Tardy is a really nice player for Elms,,,,, but that 17 WE may make him... shall we say...Tardy in his development, and keep him from fully developing into a player quite as good as the 4-5 I chose in front of him.

RDB got a RS on Goins, who I had as one of the top rated players... so with 5 seasons to max out... he'll be very tough as an upperclassman @ SF.

All recruits have been updated to reflect their overall improvement after 10 games, as well as minutes played, Pts scored, assist and rebounds.

At this point, the impact players so far have been Royce for Castleton State @ PG with 53pts and 21 ast. in 158 mins.
Palombo / Becker @ PG 33pts & 24 ast. in 176 mins.
Cooler / Thomas @ SG w/ 78Pts & 6 ast in 103 mins,  and Stephens / Becker @ SG 55 pts & 9 ast in 180 mins and +33 improvement.
Nieves / Mt Ida @ SF.. but most mins have been played at SG, 39pts, 9rb, 13ast in 112 mins.
Pressman / Husson @ PF 9pts & 33 Rb in 138 mins.
Palmer / Mt Ida @ C 42pts & 37 Rb in 174 mins, and Tardy / Elms has 57 Rb & 6 pts in 146 mins played.

Overall newcomer to the conference is Owens / Farmington @ SG, a Jr... with 140pts & 24 ast in 230 mins played.

Cooler, Royce, Stephens, or Palmer look like the early favs for Frosh of the year awards.
3 of the top recruits took a RS.
