What sort of sta/dur combo among your 4 best pitchers would make you consider a 4 man rotation?

It would be all about durability.   I'd probably need at least 27+ on all 4 to want to do it.   That way I could maybe run a 60-70 TPC/MPC on a 65 STM guy and expect him to be 100% when his turn comes around again.    And that would get them thru 4 innings.    The best would be at least 30/70, IMO.

Links 3-5 don't work but I don't really need them.   I prefer to give my pitchers an extra day at 100% so I always go 5 man unless I'm in a tight race down the stretch.  I also move my better pitchers around with that 100% in mind to get them more starts.   Finally, I don't think you can have too much good pitching.  An injury changes everything.   Having 5 could start and only using 4 isn't a bad thing.   You have a good RP and injury insurance with that 5 pitcher.

I have talked to another coach, and we seemed to agree that playoffs is about 50% luck.  What are your thoughts on that?
3/19/2013 11:51 PM
50% seems a little high.  But, in a short series, one bad game by an ace pitcher or one good game from a 2nd rate scrub can be a series changer.   I always say "Get in the playoffs and let it shake out."  Which is why the tankers who need "super teams" are kind of dumb.   Losing for a real life year in order to build your 120 game winner only to lose a 5 games series to an inferior team makes little sense.

BL and biz seem to disappear and re-appear from the forums around the same time.  Same person?

That has crossed my mind.  If it's true, that's one psycho bastard.

Draft prospects were just released , and theres an 18 year old pitcher who has awesome current ratings.  Probably the 2nd best pitcher based on those current rankings.  But his projections are only about 6-9 points away from his projected, across the board.  I have 14/14 for scouting, but I'd find it strange the 18 yr old wouldn't gain that much.  Would you roll the dice on his current ratings and forget the projections?  Or pass?

Most likely with a little variation based on his make-up.   I took Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Randy Gagne with the 8th pick and zero HS scouting based on his currents.    Worked out OK for me.

Is this guy a 2b or a LF?

Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Guillermo Perez

If I play him at LF, this guy would be my 2b (otherwise he'd be a utility guy)

Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Heinie Kinney

If I play him at 2b, I'd need to find a LF, but obviously he would hit better than Kinney

IMO, he's good enough to play 2B.  He's not winning GG but he's good enough.   His bat makes him a SS candidate at 2B.  Do it, do it now!

Who would you consider a "better" hitter?

switch hitter with a batting rating line of 88/72/94/74/94
or
RH hitter with a batting rating line of 82/87/9973/83

Neither can do much besides hit, but the switch hitter is a better runner (but still below average) and can play 1B, while the RH hitter is plodding and is a DH or part of your RF experiment.

I think I like the switch hitter better, but I'm not sure

They're going to produce about the same simply because of the SH ability.   Just depends on what you need in the field.

Am I crazy to even consider giving up my NL bye-obtaining team in Coop to get my old franchise back in the AL, when that franchise is available only due to a MWR casualty?
