It's not all about the price of gear.

If the Sox had paid him less, there would be the possibility of unloading him if he continued to suck.

Of course, I could be overreacting a little bit considering he only gave up one hit yesterday.

Consider him offset by Wakefield.

they should have saved some money and signed kei igawa.
5/28/2009 12:31 PM
And the Yankee thread is officially hijacked.
5/28/2009 12:33 PM
Not anymore. We're talking about Igawa now.

Ok, he's 4-1 with an ERA under 4.00 in Scranton/WB. When's he gonna get the callup?

Please see Buchholz/Kennedy discussion. And make those two worse. That said, probably in June/July. For an emergency start or two.

Please demote Berroa....

So much for 1st place.

It was fun while it lasted.

1. A-Rod back in lineup.

2. Tex hitting like we all knew he would and is a monster defensive 1B.

3. Young pitchers Joba and Hughes holding their own.

4. Posada coming back from injury this weekend.

5. Two time 19 game winner Wang coming back into rotation soon.

6. Nady should be back soon.

7. Matsui's recovering from his knee problems.

8. Top set up man Bruney has no structural damage, should be back in a few weeks with rest.

9. Yanks have a new backup catcher who has proven he is capable.

10. Melky has shown he can hit at the ML level.

11. Gardner, Cervelli, Pena and Berroa have shown to be an adequite bench.

12. CC has come on strong.

13. Mariano is in a groove after a couple early shaly outings (like usual).

I am sure there are more, but we have overcome a lot at the start of the season, and have hit our stride. I fully expect it to continue.

Number 8 scares me because it's true. Bruney is the top set up man. Ugh.

I've fought it, even though I'm not sure why, but if Wang can return to form, I think it might be time to consider Chamberlain going back to the pen. He hasn't exactly been unbeatable as a starter.

Brunely is vicious, he doesnt scare me at all if healthy. Besides, if CC, AJ, Andy, CMW do their jobs, they should all get us thru 6 or 7 on a regular basis.

Regarding Joba, I go back and forth...When I remember his 98-100 heater then sick 85 MPH curve or change, I think he is a lock for the 7th-8th innings as the best set up guy/future clsoer in baseball. Throwing 91 MPH as he did in his last start confirms that to me.....

Then he will go and throw 93-95 MPH, use his hook, and pitch 6 absolutely dominating innings...and at such a young age, you would think he would become more consistant and dominant as he develops....and regain some of his velocity..he isnt going to be another Nolan Ryan and throw 98-100 every pitch as a starter, but if he can be consistant at 93-95 on his fastball, he could be a dominant starter...

Remember, he is very young and has time to become that SP.

We'rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre off to see the wizard.
