But yes, most sim engines can be reverse-engineered if you spend enuf time. I'm a Scoresheet baseball guy, and I have that one down pretty well.

Do you remember how the blackjack club at MIT broke Vegas? I feel I am getting close to "breaking" the sim engine. People took the sines and cosines for granted, I tell ya, and I am not off on a tangent. You really do have to see "outside the boxscore." And yes, GMs such as Shuerholz and Beane have used a defacto pythagorean model. I was merely wondering if the same theorem was practical in the NFL sim...

not sure what you mean; that games in the sim will produce W-L records in proportion to Pythag the same way pro leagues do? And are you referring to football sim only? I'm not familiar enough with the NFL to know wehat Pythag exponent 'works' best; since I am far-and-away more of a MLB guy.
